PM admits she is worried about Feb 2nd polls

PETCHABUN, 25 Dec 2013, (NNT) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has admitted that she is worried about the upcoming February 2nd polls.

During her visit to Petchabun Province, the Prime Minister said she was truly concerned with the Democrat Party’s decision to boycott the general election, despite several academics’ claims that it could go on without the Opposition party's presence. The People’s Democratic Reform Committee’s rejection of the polls might also prevent it taking place.

The Prime Minister, meanwhile, said she agreed with the 7 Private Organization Network’s proposal on the political reform, which focuses on implementing the reform before, during, and after the general election.

According to Ms. Yingluck, she supports the idea as it can be done in parallel with the national polls, adding that the plan will be ideal if it can be completed in 2 years' time, the same time frame her government has set.

As for a certain party’s attitude toward her role as Prime Minister, she said she would not retaliate in order to avoid creating more conflicts, while urging the group to refrain from expressing its opinion in such a strong manner, as it would damage the country’s image.

When it comes to damaging the country's image I would suggest that her brother, PTP, the reds and she herself have contributed more than their fair share.

I think caretaker PM Yingluck has a right to be concerned , do the right thing ,if you think things should be changed , then change them, this then puts the democrats on the back foot and then they will have to do something, even though they give me the impression they do not hold Thailand as dear to their hearts as they should , otherwise they would be out there doing the hard yards and preparing for the election and to hell with the short time frame , Suthep should call for the UN to monitor the elections.

What image? It's been beyond repair for years now sweety.

From what I've heard as a private individual Yingluck is a nice lady, a party girl at times, probably pleasant to work with.

But as a PM she really make some inane remarks.

Platitudes, banalities, cliches -she or her speech writers are masters of them all.

When I think back to the public personas of previous elected PMs over the last 25 years:

Chartchai- amusing,colourful

Chuan -sincere, modest, prudent, perceptive

Banharn - unsophisticated but wily

Chavalit- likeable, approachable, enigmatic and confusing

Thaksin- clever,caustic and arrogant

Apisit- clever, articulate, refined

They all have some identifying characterisitics but I admit I really can't think of any about Yingluck.

If Yingluck is worried about Thailand's image, she may consider that having her brother direct the course of this administration from abroad as being a more serious impediment to the country's image. Until she actually manages to connect those two rather obvious dots, then the current reform plan she is now promoting will have no credibility with the public. As the last pillar of Yingluck's reform was the colossal blunder of the amnesty bill, it is incredible that she would expect people to believe her call as genuine now, particularly when she campaigned on reform in 2011. We all know where that led.

Her plan will have no credibility with the public? Really? Yet apparently they will overwhelmingly vote for her party with our without the opposition's participation. Really, you should seriously reconsdier citing "the public" or "the people" as being opposed to Ying Luck when only a minority of the Thai populace shares your opinion.

Anything that comes out of her mouth has come from her rotten brother or some other equally nasty, conniving spin-doctor.

She has done nothing but lie to the people of Thailand ever since she took office, telling them she is the PM, when in fact she is just a figurehead for the crim from Dubai.

In any other country at best the whole family would be locked up, in China they would probably be executed for treason and corruption.

But imagine if the Shin regime comes to an end and we can get good politicians and have a fair and clean election at last ! and the MP's would work for the good of the country ! How good would the country's image be then !? Sadly I doubt it will happen any time soon, but it is a very worthy ambition to fight for.

Hopefully the EC will ease her worries and suspend her for misuse of public funds for election campaigning.

Ahead of Suthep and co every step of the game, she has avoided the confrontations he seeks and done the right thing by calling elections and proposing reforms.

The only person living in his own little world is Suthep.

The PM and her proposals are approved by the international community and most Thai's.

On a secondary note, I've never met a Thai woman who can be told what to wear ( except in certain places, where i'm paying the bill..........) they generally do what they want.

Imagine if Yingluck is devloping a concious and realizing what her brother is doing and thinks it is wrong. Imagine if she actually started to do the right things and cut the puppet master's strings to think for herself......sorry, dreaming again....
