Protests on Sukhumvit road?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am heading to Bangkok for a few days over Xmas. I am thinking of staying on Suk. soi 8. Is it safe there right now?

I stay close to Soi 8 most weekends. There are no major protest sites in the locality, most of them are right across the other side of town. However last weekend they had minor sites at the Ploenchit/Wittayu intersection and at Asoke. Sukhumvit was jammed solid.

If you plan to get around using the skytrain at the end of Soi 8 you should be OK. Using taxis, buses, etc. is a lottery depending on what exactly is going on.

Thanks for the response. It sounds like it should be okay.

Yes, I think so. There really isn't anything in the vicinity that draws their attention. It's actually very quiet in the area right now.

There for lunch today. Very quiet. And Soi 11 not much busier. Odd, but understandable, for this time of year

It might get a bit busier at night.

Yes, but still not bustling busy. Mind I'm in bed with a cup of cocoa by midnight,so miss the action
