Although the above cross blood matching occurs around the world this is NOT typically carried out in Thailand...... because there is such a shortage of O Negative blood between the most Foreigner populated areas of Koh Samui, Phangnan,Tao & Phuket and as you can see from the chart O Negative can only be received by O Negative..... Just one pint of O Negative is stored at Nathon hospital (simply because we cannot get enough donors) and unlike Europe where blood can be stored for 45 days it can only be stored for 35 days in Thailand.

Hi samuidee - is there an age limit for donating blood in Thailand? (I am 63 next Songkhran) passifier.gif

I have been a donor of O negative for more than 40 years but the last time that I went to donate at Nathon - I was rejected. sad.png

I am sure there is a limit,I think about 60.

It's 65 as stated in external link in post 2.

Yes - I can read thank you John1

but I read the whole article.

It also states "Please Note: the above is currently UK guidelines set through European law… guidelines for Asia may vary and this website will be updated as soon as the information is available" further down in the article.

That is why I asked. thumbsup.gif

Please everyone moderate your comments unless you have actually spoken to the authorities as we do!!!!! as i reported earlier regardless of age they will consider each on a case by case scenario, the age limits are guidelines!

Moderate comments? Samui is not the only place people donate blood, hence the age discussion.

Off topic argumentative posts & replies deleted. This topic is about a required blood donation & not a debate.

We were also supplied with a contact at last that we so badly require that can facilitate things.
