chainarong
It would seem at this point that the whole of the police and military would be prime suspects, this now turns to a new chapter in Thai treachery ,with the revelations about the men in black, who this gunman was is anybody's guess, as you can no longer trust anyone, how anyone could breach the ground so close to Chuan with- out the protection unit knowing is beyond me , err I guess he has such protection.??? MK1
Well, well, well, this is very disappointing indeed. I didn’t think ex-politicians who had well exceeded their used by dates would be subject to a bounty hit list after retirement. I guess since Yingluck son was threaten in public by Suthep, this has opened up a new can of worms, in terms of installing fear in peoples minds . I wonder what the bounty sponsor is paying to hit leaders and ex-leaders of political parties besides a night out at a casino of their choice? Perhaps this year there will be very little vote buying but more sponsored political target hits, like these, against those influential figures who have endorsed the boycott of the February 2nd election. Obviously, this is not necessary a lay down Misere win for the Shinawatra’s neither, otherwise we wouldn’t be seeing or potentially led to believe its open season on politicians; like duck hunting. However, Politicians and Mayor’s in the past in Thailand have also been known to have arranged their own self-style staged attempted political hits to raise their public image or gain a better outcome in legal proceedings before, so nothing can be ruled out. Briggsy
This smacks of local Trang politics than national politics. This is how politics is conducted at a local level. Just read the Thai press. Or Bor Tor, Phoo Yai Bahn, member of Or Bor Jor have very high chance of being murdered when compared to the population in general.

MobileContent
How on earth a former Prime Minister of Thailand does not have any protection after he leaves office. Is it political motivated? Yes absolutely but I would not blame the reds for it but would look more on national headlines by factions inside the Democrat Party. phantomfiddler
I fear that soon "peaceful" bullets will be flying around in Bangkok, with an occasional peaceful parang swinging merrily in the chaos Several thousand designated redshirt villages are nothing other than one megalomaniac,s private army. RubbaJohnny
"Police suspected that the shots were fired by ill-intentioned group of people wanted to incite disturbance in the country." Holmes--you're a genius! Perhaps misguided wellwishers who no understand local mores. Whoever is inciting, performimg and excusing violence are mired. Sadly little condemnation,it needs to be stopped before the civil strife sheds more blood. Seems that if lightly armed authority will not act for whatever reason, force majeure will be demanded by those who require the most basic right, At the end of the day peace is more importat than democracy, tax rates or net penetration ; THE RIGHT TO SLEEP SAFELY IN YOUR BED WITHOUT FEAR OF MURDER. not all see military rule as the worst option, civil war will takes decades to repair Edited January 2, 2014 by RubbaJohnny
