Popular Post kikoman
In 2001 I came to Thailand, stayed in Pattaya, after 6 months moved to Sattahip in 2005 moved to a little village 50 kilometers outside of Nakhon Sawan. I live a great life here my friends are almost entirely Thai, Built a home for my wife and daughters, raise my own food and some animals, a great, full, quiet life surrounded by family and friends, can't think of anywhere else on earth I would rather be! Born in the U.S. early years spent in Mexico, also lived on the island of Oahu, in the Territory of Hawaii ( you all are right it is a beautiful place) Cheers

Braddockrd
I lived in Bangkok 3 years for work. I live now in Singapore. I could not go back to Bangkok or probably Thailsnd for that matter. Nice for short vacation but it's dirty, polluted, broken sidewalks ( if any), traffic, and the people are too provincial, even the educated ones. Everyone has their preferences I guess. I could not imagine how boring life could be in a village!
Popular Post mrtoad
I have a house in Lad Phrao, and a place on Koh Chang. Spend most of my time these days in Koh Chang due to work. I love Koh Chang, and Bangkok is great for 3 or 4 days at a time now, I like the quiet life. Been here 8 years, and couldn't be happier. The worst people I have come across here in Thailand are bitter, Jealous foreigners who love trying to drag people who try and do something down. I have some great friends , both Thai and Western.

I spent many of my college holidays there so have a strong attachment to the place. Bangkok is just different, it's like comparing apples to oranges. If I was going to move anywhere for work, Singapore would be my next choice providing the finance package was suitable.

Popular Post duanebigsby
I have always had the notion that if you don't like where you live, move, and if you don't like your job, quit. Unfortunately the last few years of my residency in Vancouver found me in both those situations. So....I left. I left a high paying, unfulfilling job and came to Chiang Rai. I'm now teaching English, which I know TV readers consider a low life existence, but I absolutely love it. I enjoy the town, the kids, my house, and my whole life. I won't return to Canada in the foreseeable future. Those who mentioned they'd move for better job prospects, I'm through with that. after surviving the big c, I'll live where I want, not where the job takes me. Those who've said they didn't like Thailand and left, congrats, as that is my point, don't live in a place you don't like.

Able
From the UK. Been based in Thailand for most of the last 15 years, though always working overseas. Moved to Khon Kaen a couple of years back and love the place, happy to settle here long term. And unlike a lot of TV members I still love Thailand, guess that's a lucky way to be. Oh well clearly I don't have your impeccable judgment when it comes to making decisions on where to live. Tell me, how did you get it so right? Oh . . . wait Border bombs, pollution, drainage, taxi scams, the road system . . . what next? The Thai people? Yep, you're definitely easy to please . . . pretty good with locations too

pwills
I live near Chom Bueng on a farm, we are self sufficient, I was wounded in a conflict in a country not far from here, and spent 10 weeks in hospital in Sri Racha and was repatriated to Australia for my recovery, Could not settle so went back to sea and went walkabout for 12 years, ( I am one of what the army trick cyclists call the "lost boys " those who never really went home. ) Came back to Thailand in ' 79 and have lived here ever since, I worked on the oil/gas rigs out of Karratha Western Australia , month on/month off until I retired. Now do'nt know how to live anywhere else and have no interest in doing so,

kennypowers
Up north in Chiang Mai, More friends than I ever had in the UK. Out most days exercising with my pals or just hanging out in coffee bars. Had to dump a whole raft of friends that I didn't have time for, too busy. It's great here! Thai friends? Or did you join a expat club? No foreigner has Thai friends. I don't think any Thais have Thai friends either. Huh? two of my best friends are Thai. Both were born in Thailand although one spent 10 years in Germany. Are you living in a bar?

Popular Post TTALENTINO
My wife and I just finished building our dream home in a rural area of Nakhon Sawan. We are about 1km off the main highway between Bangkok and Chaing Mai. 10 km North to the nearest small city with a decent size Tesco and 40km south to Muang Nakhon Sawan which is a fairly big Thai city with pretty much anything you could need. We love the people here in the country side and I find I can't relate to most of the negativity I read on TV about Thailand or Thai people. We have 5 rai with a big pond and many mature fruit trees and the most amazing mountain view in the whole Provence! The stars fill the sky at night, and nature surrounds us during the day. It is delightful! I grew up in Canada and spent my 20's working in Florida and the New York City before coming here a little over a year ago when I was thirty. Could not be happier with the decision!
