Hi all, I live in Siam country road and have about 80 sqm of garden that need to be rework. It is full of weeds and I was wondering how to toatally get rid of them, had sprayed chemical specially for weeds but then it regrow after a while, will it be better if I dig out all the weeds and roots? I need to completely get rid of them before planting new grass.

Also, I need a good gardener that can even out the soil, maybe to dig out all the old roots and replant new grass, thanks.

My garden is about twice the size of yours. I have had it for over 12 years.

I like to keep a clean looking lawn with shrubs. I have a full time gardener

who takes care of it (lives on premises, his wife cleans for us),

He tries to remove weeds from the grass by pulling them out with their roots

using long nose pliers. However, he can not keep up with the weeds, and

other plants that tend to pop up (e.g. shrub seedlings). My problem is that I

do NOT live in a development, and have mostly empty lots around me with

weeds.

We end up completely removing the grass every 4 years and planting new

one. It runs me about 20k baht to re-grass the entire area, but I find it worth

it. The entire process takes 3 days and is performed by the grass supplier.

The gardener I had to train myself, never found one who knew 'everything'.

Thanks to internet and the nice people in various TV forums I have learned

a lot ... :)

I can't offer names or numbers but when I live on 160 on the Dark side I found ours by seeing them working in other peoples yards and just approached them and they turned out to be great and chaep too really. Maybe you can do the same or as neighbours who they use?

The Moo Ban that I live in are contracted to 3 groups of cambordian gardeners, and they only can perform the basics like watering and cutting, they don't even care to pull out the weeds, a very lousy job, because they have many jobs, as the developer has many developments and the gardens are all done by them, so either way I turn, will bump into one of them.

Hi Luudee, my grass is 5 years old and 60% weeds, that is why I want to change new grass. When you say completely remove, do you mean by digging out all their roots? Did you spray some chemical or any treatment before replanting new grass? One gardener told me that even when the roots are digged out, the seeds still stay and it will grow again, but I guess maybe lesser weeds, do you get a lot of weeds after re-grass?

You might try one of the garden shops along Soi Siam Country Club road. If you see grass outside, they'll normally deliver it and "install" it for you.

The gardener I used to do our yard seems to have too much to do now. I had a small job for him (8k Baht) and we waited a few months, he never came. So ended up getting another guy who was just OK. So can't really recommend our guy right now. His main job is taking care of several moo bans around town. Could even be yours! 55555 He does use Cambodian's for the work.

I'm not good with this, but there is a pretty good garden shop here:

12°55'27.26" N 100°55'58.59" E

I've ordered rocks and stuff from them before.

Does anyone know if Thailand has broad leaf weed killer. This is a good solution for ridding the weeds. I have never seen a gardner that can control the weeds. You simply can not get the roots out of the ground and they pop back up quickly. Plowing up and new grass seems to be an expensive solution.

As "Craig" mentioned, most of the garden shops on SSCC do garden work and some of them will sell and install new grass for you but just make sure they kill all the weeds and treat the soil after they rip up the old weeded turf.

You say you live on SSCC so just pop into a few of them on your way home (Unless you don't live so far up SSCC then you might need to drive further East).

This is like lottery, maybe you can get a good one and maybe worst, that is why I ask for recommendations.
