Volcanic Eruptions Effects On Thailand Will Be Determined By Chinese Typhoon

Dept of mineral resources state volcanic eruptions effects on Thailand determined by Chanchu typhoon

The Director-General of the Department of Mineral Resources, Mr. Somsak Pothisat (สมศักดิ์ โพธิสัตย), revealed that the effects of volcanic eruptions in Indonesia on Thailand were entirely dependant on the wind directions from typhoon Chanchu hitting China at the moment.

Mr. Somsak stated that the recent twin volcanic eruptions in Indonesia and the Philippines would affect Thailand only if the wind factors from the typhoon Chanchu carried ash and dust from the volcanoes into Thailand. Currently, the two volcanoes are still active and may erupt again at any moment.

The Department of Mineral Resources is closely monitoring the event, and cautions the public not to panic.
