Hi guys, this is a genuine & emotional plea, but i can't give details publicly.

I have her name and i.d card address, but this may be an old address.

this was in a.chumpuang

but she mentioned where the house is now is in 2 villages together which she did not know how to spell in English, but one of them sounds like NAKAR. approximately an hours drive from

Nakon Ratchasima & between 30 & 50 kilometres from a famous waterfall.

Hi I would really like to help you and I do have a very good knowledge

of Korat and the surrounding area but I need you to give some more information for me to be able to help you.

Do you have any idea in which direction you travelled, There are not many water falls within an hour from Korat so I think you must have either headed south on highway 304 past the air force base and the turning for the zoo, or taken the main road to Sarabuiri, Bangkok which would have taken you past a big lake, (over an hours drive)

Ampher Chum Phung is very close to Phimai which is has an ancient Khmer temple about an hours drive from Korat to the East, it to my knowakage does not have a water fall but it does have a river and large lake

Do you remember which direction to headed for?

Steve: On my map there is an Amphur Chumphuang that is located just a little bit northeast of Phimai. Like you, I don't recall any specific "famous" waterfall over there, but in some of my travels there have been road signs saying waterfall, but when I get there it isn't much in the way of a waterfall.

Doing a google search on Chumpuang it looks like there are some Thaivisa members in that area. Can check this Thaivisa link: Chumpuang.

Indeed, I think we would need a little bit more info to help the OP. :o

Hi Lancashirelad. I previously lived in Chumpuang for some time as hundreds of my wife's family live there :o

Likely to be Nongka, about 12 kilometres from Chumpuang town centre. Out in the sticks! If you want to get more details privately, PM me and I can ask my wife's parents if they know the family, as it is only 2k's from their home.

guys thanks so much for your input.

I haven't been there but should have been there now. Her mobile often does not work at home (no signal)

she mentioned the possibility of going to Phimai, but thought it was quite a long way.

Dragonman i have attempted to PM you, but it is not showing in my sent folder, so i don't know if you will have received it.

Is she gonna be happy about her pic being put on the net Lancashirelad..??

Can you phone her at all, she must have some knowledge of the local roads, highway numbers...

If not ask for a nearby city..

I live approximately 1 1/5 hours from Nakon Ratchasima, (my car is a pile of junk so maybe it can be done in 1 hour!), and there is a famous waterfall 25 km from my house, Naam Tok Taat Ton.

Could it be a.chaiyaphum rather than a.chumpuang? If so perhaps you should start looking nearer there. But i don't know of any local place souinding like Nakar

Maybe it is Dakar in India.... Do you not know any of her friends or maybe someone where you met her? Also it does seem a bit dangerous to be looking on here and asking questions IMO. Why has she gone missing? Will she not contact you, if you were close she must have a number or email? Sorry dont mean to rock the boat, but one has to be careful, especially in the LOS.

Do you guys ever check the dates of threads?

If the OP hasn't found her, he may have lost interest by now!

hehe true but maybe she will be looking for a new lover then, so we should all search double hard :o

I have a new lead. Numjai Karaoke, left after the table with Thai men playing cards and drinking whisky at the brown house made of wood.

What type of wood is it? Your description is a bit vague. Any wood worm or rot? Just to narrow down the choices a bit

OK Nidge it has a nice trail next to it, within walking distance to a noodle shop. Not much rot but has some people sat outside drinking Chang. Sorry its a bit vague as I only took her home once, one was very pished. She was Thai though, if that helps?

:o

ps. Follow the trail nidge and see you soon? :D

Chang, ok, i know it now. The tables and chairs are concrete and shaped/painted to look like psychedelic logs right?

You know her as well, this is uncanny Nidge. She comes from a large family and eats Som Tam usually they all sit on the floor?

Oh my Buddha, its a small world in Asia is it not!

Coldcrush, unlike yourself at over 2600 posts, some of us are busy with our lives and have more to do than sit typing away on here every day.

Anyway......

At the time of posting the lady in question and myself had had a misunderstanding. We were supposed to go to her home, but for various reasons the trip was cancelled at the 11th hour. (my decision).

Unexpectedly (based on what she had said) she was rather cut up about this & cleared off. I thought she'd gone home alone, but was infact still in Pattaya.

I eventually got to visit the village in the depth of the rainy season in September 2006. My first night there the whole village flooded about a foot deep. I had to drive out in the rented 2wd pick-up back to our digs near Bua Yai. A scary experience when its dark, totally flooded & you don't where the dykes are.

Village name is NAKHAE. Take the N2 from Khorat City towards Khon Kaen, turn left onto the 202 towards Chaiyaphum. About 15 kms beyond Bua Yai turn North. Its close to Kaen Sanam Nang.

The waterfall was Tat ton In Chaiyaphum province, well worth a visit. (somewhat more than 50 kms!)

She also took me to Phimai historical park, the Banyon trees at Sai Ngam, & the lake at Pattaya Two.

Pics: 1.waterfall at Tat ton. 2.Village (dried out). 3.Road into the village day after the big flood.
