Buying a condo here while I am in USA..?

Featured Replies

I have seen a Condo I want to buy, already tenanted by a Scotsman.

We have agreed a price and conditions. I have seen his ownership stuff.

I'm not interested in the contents so am not concerned that I only get the structure,

I don't have time to finalise before I return home, so need to do it thro some "agency" in my absence.

The only thing I know for sure is that I will have to send the money from USA. I believe I can open an initial account here as proof

to send the money.

I suppose there is some proxy procedure, Can anyone advise on this process and actual transfer please.

Get a lawyer and give him a limited power of attorney before you leave. You can transfer the money to the sellers account and you will still receive a Foreign Exchange Certificate. A competent Thai lawyer will tell you exactly how to do it

Suspect the tricky bit will be relating to immigration law.

If you were based in Thailand at the time of the transaction then I am fairly certain you would have to show your passport at the land office.

That might be difficult if you are in USA.

A competent lawyer,as Langsuan Man advises, may have an answer

Guy, you are looking to start trouble for yourself.

Ticket to Thailand cost about 1.5g, consider it a loss and be in Thailand for closing.
