Folks,

After receiving a retirement O-A visa, is there a requirement to stay in Thailand for any minimum number of days throughout that year ?

IE: Can someone obtain the visa, stay in Thailand for 5 months and return to their country for 6 months, then return again ?

Thanks in advance,

If you have a re-entry permit and you return before the end of your authorized period of stay in Thailand (stamp in your passport) there is no limit to the time you spend out of the country.

There is no requirement to say any set period in Thailand.

If you have a multi entry O-A visa issued in your home country (check that it says multi entry) you are fee to travel and each entry will receive a 365 day permitted to stay stamp during the validity period of the visa itself. Once that time is over, or if extension issued in Thailand, you must obtain a re-entry permit prior to leaving or you will lose your extension of stay status/permitted to stay period and have to start over. You obtain the re-entry permit from an immigration office at a cost of 1,000 baht for single trip or 3,800 baht for multi trips up to the next extension of stay.
