Hello!

I'm planing to drive to Krabi/Koh Lanta from Phuket on the weekend..

Do I need to book the ferry in advance or is it possible at all?? Or no need to...? Is there a ferry every hour...?(first/last ferry what time?) And how long does the ferry need to Lanta? Price?

Thank you very much!!

A few years since I visited Koh Lanta but doubt things have changed, unless they actually got round to building the bridge.coffee1.gif

There are two drive on drive off ferries. The crossings are short about half an hour as far as I recall. No need to book just turn up and join the Q.

As far as I remember they run constantly from 6am till about 8pm.

Sure some one from Lanta will be along with to give latest information.

Same as Daffy mate, just turn up, not sure how much (always done it on the bus) but cheap. Well sign posted and a doddle, have a good time, Lanta's cool.

Agree with the last 2 posts. There is no booking service. Just join the queue, pay for both ferries at as you pass the first ticket both, something like a 100 baht or so for both ferries.

Depending on time of year (high/low season) and time of day, the queue can be long or very short. Busy times they run 2 ferries at each crossing and I have not waited more than 30 minutes at the first ferry, and at the second ferry not more than 10 minutes. Crossing time is a short 15 minutes each ferry. I allow an hour total time for queuing and crossing, ie assume one hour to arrive in Lanta from arriving at the first ferry point.

On the first crossing there are 4 ferries in operation and the fare is 100 Baht, inclusive the driver. Additional fees for passengers. At the second crossing there are 3 ferries and the fare is 70 Baht. Operation hours are from 06:00 h to 22:00 h. There is a bridge under construction at the second crossing, but completion will take another 2-3 years I guess.
