The beer garden suhkumvit 7 ( from memory ) cold beer and many freelance ladies last time I went about 1 year ago around 12.30 pm I felt like I was being auctioned , walked in the door and about 50 pairs of eyes turned to look lol I think they were just sizing up how big the wallet was . But turned out to be good place to have a beer .

beer garden on 7 is hardly outdoors, though i cant think of one off the top of my head sorry.

there are places like rosabien and zacks on soi 11 that have outside seating also mulligans and Aus pub on same soi.

The Landmark on sukhumvit has a great patio for people watching if you are not afraid of spending a little more.

do you mean they serve beer between 2 and 5 p.m. ? That would be a nice surprise..

While I'm not a frequent bar-goer mid-day when staying in Bangkok, in any restaurant or hotel lounge area that I've been in during the afternoon I've been able to get a drink without a problem. Likewise in Pattaya.

Why are you surprised? Maybe you've mistaken a 7-Eleven for a bar??

Gullivers in Sukhumvit Soi 5 has an outside beer garden, as does Hanrahans in Soi Nana but the surroundings are noisy. I agree about the terrace at the Landmark - very pleasant even if on Sukhumvit but drinks at hotel rates. Just walk round Soi 11 and Soi 8 you will find pubs and restaurants with outdoor areas.

Regret to say we were refused a good Belgian beer with our food at HOBS (soi Aree Sampang) after 2 p.m:

do you mean they serve beer between 2 and 5 p.m. ? That would be a nice surprise..

All bars do- the ban on alcohol sales at these times only applies to stores.

Fancy that, I stand corrected. I should have said 99% of bars !

Amazing Thailand, where a place specialising in beers refuses to sell you beer, when they have no legal reason for doing so!

NOTE: Apparently this may be a new thing, since this 2010 blog describes a lazy Sunday afternoon at this particular branch of HOBS spent drinking beer. So may be worth your while calling to ask!

"It was lazy Sunday afternoon, P was suggesting that we should go to HOBS for beer. I have heard so much about HOBS (House of Beers) so decided to call everyone for a drink....We weren't that hungry at the beginning so we just ordered drinks."

Tawandaeng on Rama 3 is entirely indoors. And the Old German Beerhouse in Suk Soi 11 is a covered establishment with no side walls/windows. Neither is quite an outdoors beer garden.

By "furburger," I believe the poster was referring to carnal relations with a lady...given that that's the specialty of the house at the Suk Soi 7 Beer Garden, which also is entirely enclosed/indoors.

There's a small outdoors beer garden near the Ambassador Hotel on Suk Soi 11 named something like Beer and Bites, which could be an interesting place for people watching, and there's a similarly sized ourdoors place near the Foodland market in Suk Soi 5. Neither has much atmosphere of their own. But both are entirely outdoors and might provide some interesting attractions.

BTW, there's a much longer list of restaurants and other establishments around BKK that won't serve any alcohol between 2 and 5 pm for whatever reason. There's a couple of specialty beer places at Mega Bangna, for example, that are open for food all through the afternoon but will serve no alcohol until after 5 pm.

The places that are exempt from that restriction by law, I know, are establishments that are part of hotels. But like many things in BKK, the rules are enforced one place and not enforced in another.

The wife and I went for a late lunch recently to the quite good Brotzeit German food and beer restaurant (an indoors place) in Soi Thong Lor. And I expected I wouldn't be able to order a beer with my meal. But the staff assured that they serve beer from lunchtime onward until closing.

here is a food outside restaurant across the street from the beer garden....it is a nice place to sit and drink beer...can watch the ladies coming and going from the beer garden. It is outside but has a roof that is about 10 ft high, so very airy area. Also soi 7/1 has a few bars that have seating in front of the bars...not much travel....but all the bars and massage places have ladies outside trying to get customers to come in...so a little eye candy there.

yes the beergarden on soi 7 is actually enclosed, but there its lots to look at,and also does good food,my friend usually has a furburger when he goes.

What's a furburger? Its on the menu?

Some people shouldn't be let out alone.

Thanks a lot! That's the best laugh I've had this month, and it wasn't even on the menu, either whistling.gif

Check out Bei Otto, Soi 20. German beer, bakery and butchery. Small covered beergarden, too. See

Beiotto.com

Unfortunately, no Munich style beergardens anywhere in Thailand. I have been thinking about changing that.

Great idea! With Dirndl und Lederhosen, Schweinshaxe und Sauerbraten. Contact me, if you need help with that.
