What is the process to change a VOA to "O" Marriage Visa in Bangkok ~ woman married to Thai Man

Hello & Sawadee ka to everyone here on Thai Visa. I was home in the U.S for the holiday season and missed the timeline to apply for a non-immigrant O visa based on marriage to my Thai Husband. We were married last April. Is it possible to convert the VOA to an "O" here in Bangkok and what do I need to do to accomplish this. I have about 20 days left on the voa. I've seen older posts but nothing current talking about this and am looking for some "up to date" info from some of the great minds here at Thai Visa. Will my husband need to show any tax info or bank statements? Want to take care of this soon so I thought I'd reach out and try and get some info here. Best wishes and many thanks!

A conversion to a non immigrant visa from a visa exempt entry (not a voa) can be done at immigration in Bangkok. You must though meet all the requirements for an extension of stay based upon marriage.

You would have to check with them to find out what if any financial proof would be needed. The rules do not mention financial proof for marriage to a Thai man. I have read of some offices wanting to see 15K baht income.

Thank you Ubonjoe....yes it is a Visa Exemption not a VOA... thank you for that clarification :.) Who needs that 15k baht income...myself or my husband? That wouldn't be an issue for either of us but just trying to figure out what financial paperwork, if any, to compile . We have all of our marriage paperwork etc. in order so I believe I would meet "all the requirements"

You will have to do the conversion at Bangkok immigration.

And then do the extension in Nonthaburi about 60 days after you get the non immigrant visa entry.

So there isn't much info out there for women married to Thai men but this is what I found. Does this look current? What is # 8 ~ A record of interviewing the applicant and her husband? I'm assuming that #6. copy of census registration is the Tambien Ban.

Also isn't the tm7 for extension of stay? Do I need the tm7? and would I need a TM.86 คำขอเปลี่ยนประเภทการตรวจลงตรา APPLICATION FOR CHANGE OF VISA

or TM.87 คำขอรับการตรวจลงตรา APPLICATION FOR VISA?

Husband who has Thai Nationality
Required Documents
1.
Immigration form 7 (Tor Mor 7) available at any Imm
igration office or at www.immigration.go.th
2. Copy of current passport not expiring before the term of visa
3. Photograph 4 cm. X 6 cm. in size, full face, do not smile, keep hair out of face
4. Pay a 1,900 baht application fee

5. Marriage Certificate or evidence of recognized marriage outside of Thailand translated into Thai and certified by the embassy or consulate of the country of marriage

6. A copy of Census Registration, a copy of Identification Card

7. Birth Certificate of children of your spouse and yours (if any)

8. A record of interviewing the applicant and her husband

9. Applicant must accompany her husband to the Immigration Bureau office to certify of all the documents.
The couple will be able to confirm that they are still husband and wife.

10. The officials reserve the rights to examine or ask
for additional documents from the applicant if necessary

You use the TM87 the TM86 would be used if you had a tourist visa.

1. You won't need the TM7 until you do the extension.

2. Copy of passport photo page, entry/permit to stay stamp and TM6 departure card.

4. For visa fee is 2000 baht.

5. Add Kor Ror 2 marriage registry if married here. Kor Ror 22 if married outside country.

6. Need copies of both house book (tambien ban) and ID card.

8. Immigration will have the form but not sure they will do this for visa application. This will be an interview as they fill out the statement.

Photos of you and you and your husband in and around the house. One photo must show you both standing under or beside house number.

You may also may need a copy of your affirmation of permit to marry you got from your embassy when you got married.

I suggest you call the visa section using phone number I posted before to confirm what they want for the visa application.

Then contact Nonthaburi immigration for extension requirements.

Ubon Joe~ I just wanted to really thank you for taking the time to post the info above. You have been very! helpful :.) We haven't gone yet...still waiting for Immi to re-open...if it hasn't soon we'll go to one of the new locations as they seem to be functioning alright. We have a lot of copying to do as we're applying for a CR1 right now and planned to spend the day "taking care of business" @ Chaeng Wattana. Thanks again, much appreciated!! wai.gif
