So kl embassy now want you to give proof of employment, original bank statements signed by the bank and detailed itinery. Went to apply for single entry tourist visa and they the said they need all those docs now. I only have one previous tourist visa so thought it would be straight forward. Not any more. They did this to every person who applied for one. Which left a lot of unhappy people.

So every just came out empty handed??? Fly back and get 30 days and do one border crossing....same same.

Two border runs to equal 60 total days unless from a G7 country. Add 1 or 2 more to equal the 30 days extensions you can get if you have a tourist visa.

Vientiane consulate now has a sign outside saying that they believe many people have had several tourist visas whilst working illegally. You must now show proof of funds to be able to support yourself for your visit. You can't go on holiday if you're broke train of thought.

and how the heck are you suppose to be employed if you are going to LOS for four months with a visa that says "employment prohibited"?

I think that's the objective. They want you to take a break from your job back home, spend your money in Thailand and then go back home. That's kind of what tourists do.

If that doesn't coincide with your plans, they probably want you to get permission to stay that does match your purpose of staying, whether that be an ED visa, permission based on having a Thai family, based on investment, work permit, etc.

Or you can go back to your home country, proving you have the wherewithal to travel, and probably get a tourist visa in a heartbeat.

Lots of conflicting reports. Fella and his missus I met in Penang 6 weeks ago were told in KL that they only issue to Malaysian residents so they had to go to Penang for their visas.
