MJP
I really want. I do. But will have to wait a couple of years, 'coz peng. http://shop.steadidrone.eu/?product=3-axis-av200-stabilization-system Although the smaller drones for GoPro aren't too expensive. http://www.complex.com/tech/2013/03/10-cool-drones-you-can-buy-right-now/lehmann-la100-gopro-drone http://www.helipal.com/product_info.php?currency=GBP&products_id=10662&gclid=CPuEg_ObrbwCFeXKtAodz0QAXg Here's a good video of the floods on the Somerset Levels (just down road from me), http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/weather/10611671/Aerial-drone-footage-of-catastrophic-Somerset-floods.html Some other good drone vids . . . http://www.indiewire.com/article/watch-10-films-that-show-you-what-drone-filmmaking-can-look-like My DSLR is famous for being dire at video, thus I never use it for that. But video, especially this aerial stuff is of real interest. Hazard a guess one of these things will crash through a window of a government quango sometime in the UK causing a bureaucrat named Derek a minor injury following which they'll require CAA approved licensing and thus be banned, so it's probably a bit risky making a big investment if you want to go into the drone video business. Tywais
T, I've posted in the wrong forum, can you move to the Equipment sub-forum, thanks. Done. I've also been very interested in doing this ever since I saw TV member rcpilot's aerial videos. Considering building my own.
MJP
It's definitely a project. I'd have to build it in Issan though, not much to hit there.. Looking around, if you use a GoPro Hero 3 Black MkII and a smaller drone, this is sub-£1000. Not so peng after all.

sustento
Straight from the horse's mouth. 20kg is a standard for all RC models in the UK. Over that and it gets complicated. https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/122704/response/300714/attach/html/3/20120802ReplyLetter.pdf.html I seem to remember that if you want to take commercial videos in the UK you need a licence but I can't find any confirmation on the net. Tywais
If you want to just try it out cheap then the toy versions will work to get a feel of it. Syma X5c for example for $89.99 USD. Comes with an HD camera. Obvious not going to be the best video quality but still entertaining.

MJP
Yeah, was reading the commercial use had been banned in the US but the consumer market is unaffected. Seems a crackin' system for a video hobbyist.

sustento
If you're in the UK you can get a little Hubsan with a camera (not FPV) from Amazon for 45 quid. The only problem with the small multirotors is that you can't control them if there's any wind. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00EDNI8YK/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_3?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00D8CRR12&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=04J5SMJSV4AVGRQ74Z7G
