Although the smaller drones for GoPro aren't too expensive.

Here's a good video of the floods on the Somerset Levels (just down road from me),

Some other good drone vids . . .

My DSLR is famous for being dire at video, thus I never use it for that. But video, especially this aerial stuff is of real interest. Hazard a guess one of these things will crash through a window of a government quango sometime in the UK causing a bureaucrat named Derek a minor injury following which they'll require CAA approved licensing and thus be banned, so it's probably a bit risky making a big investment if you want to go into the drone video business.

It's definitely a project.

I'd have to build it in Issan though, not much to hit there..

Looking around, if you use a GoPro Hero 3 Black MkII and a smaller drone, this is sub-£1000. Not so peng after all.

Straight from the horse's mouth. 20kg is a standard for all RC models in the UK. Over that and it gets complicated.

I seem to remember that if you want to take commercial videos in the UK you need a licence but I can't find any confirmation on the net.

If you're in the UK you can get a little Hubsan with a camera (not FPV) from Amazon for 45 quid. The only problem with the small multirotors is that you can't control them if there's any wind.
