Four anti-government protesters killed in horror crash in Hua Hin

Hua Hin: -- The Cha-Am/Pranburi bypass was the scene of yet another road fatality on Tuesday when three men and a woman were killed as the pickup truck they were travelling in was hit by a 10 wheeled vehicle.

The incident, which happened just after midnight, forced the pickup truck to leave the carriageway before colliding with a tree. Six other people were also injured.

Early reports suggest that the passengers in the pickup were supporters of the People Democratic Reform Committee and had been returning home to Surat Thani having taken part in the anti government rallies at the Lumpini protest site.

Police named those killed in the accident as Thavorn Chanthuros, Wuthisak Kaewbuathong, Saowalak Yodpromthing and Amporn Yangyuen.

Now some douchebag can come in and blame Yingluck for this in 3....2.....1

Of course another guy who doesn't know anything. It's obviously Thaksins fault, duh.

Edit - RIP to the victims and their families, seeing the story this may have been a deliberate act is shocking.

Four protesters killed in a suspicious car accident in Hua Hin

2-4-2014-12-00-18-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Four anti-government protesters were killed and four others injured when a pick-up truck in which they were travelling hit a roadside tree after having been squeezed out of a road by a ten-wheel truck in Hua Hin Monday night.

One of the four survivors, Mr Somporn Anuwat, told police that he suspected the accident was deliberate as the truck driver intended to force their vehicle out of the road.

According to Somporn, altogether 11 protesters left Silom protest site Monday night for home in Surat Thani and Songkhla in their pick-up truck. All of them wore scarfs, wristbands and whistles bearing the colours of the national flag which is used as the symbol of the anti-government protests.

As their pick-up was travelling on the Cha-am-Pran Buri bypass road, Somporn said that a ten-wheel truck zoomed alongside their car and squeezed their car out of the road forcing the driver to lose control and plunge into a roadside tree.

The four dead victims were identified as Wutthisak Kaewbuathong, 37; Amporn Youngyuen, 59; Thavorn Chanturos, 53; and Ms Saowalak Yodpromthong, 42.

sure RIP.

but i would just be curious a few things, like was the driver drunk, how the hell a 10 wheeler just zoom by from nowhere, and force you down the road, after all the pickup seem to be lot easier to handle/accelerate, where is the rest of the 11 travelling mentioned, also 6 injured, but only 1 surviver to tell the story, and yes, why the crush mark on the driver side passenger door, as it seems the driver crushed the car to the left side of the road...

all in all, suspicious case, sure.

In my view a nauseating post concerning the matter.

One can but hope that upon your death no-one will blame the government of the time for the matter where ever you may be or the government may be.

I think you misunderstood my post. I was merely preempting some paranoid conspiracy nut to come in and say the government was behind this, which happens quite a lot around here.

Don't want to call this scum of the earth an animal, because it will be an insult to the animals.

Hope they catch him soon.

My condolences to the families of the four dead.

Without knowing more you condemn the truck driver? While the account related by a survivor may be his or her honest opinion, it is only an opinion. Until there is factual proof to support the opinion it is only one person's conjecture. Does it not occur to you to ask how a rather large truck cannot be out accelerated by a pickup truck, or how the prickup truck could not brake and let the bigger truck race by? Why would any driver allow himself to be intentionally crowded off the road rather than accelerate or brake to avoid the bigger truck? Is it not possible that either the bigger truck driver or the pickup truck driver fell asleep? Would that be some kind of first for Thailand? Is it not conceivable that eleven people in a pickup truck could easily cause a noticeable weight shift if the pickup driver overreacted, causing the pickup to veer out of control? Does it even enter your mind that any potential driver error on the part of the pickup might be buried in smoke and mirror fake smiles of fiction lest a driver lose face over the deaths of four passengers? Yet, you are so sure the bigger truck driver is scum? One thing is certain, if it turns out that your hang him high jump to conclusions actually mirrors reality in hindsight, it will not have been the result of a reasonable mind or thinking of any kind.

Not yet, but he probably will be.

Protesters' Car Crashes In Hua Hin, Killing 4
By Khaosod English

Rescue workers pose with "Shutdown Bangkok" scarf found inside the wrecked vehicle, 3 February 2014

HUA HIN: -- A pick-up truck carrying almost a dozen anti-government protesters has crashed in Prachuap Kiri Khan province last night, killing 4 people.

6 people were also injured in the accident, which took place in Hua Hin district. The injured victims were later transported to Hua Hin Hospital.

It is believed that the driver has fled the scene, and the police have not yet located the person for further investigation.

Bags of clothes were seen scattering around the area, including anti-government protest outfits and accessories.

One of the wounded passengers, Mr. Somjai Choochuisuwan, who serves as a village headman in Prasaeng district of Surat Thani province, said he and other passengers were supporters of the People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD).

The group had joined the protest at Lumpini Park several days ago, Mr. Somjai said. When he and a co-protester, who was the missing driver, decided to return to their home province in Surat Thani, some other protesters reportedly asked for the ride home as well.

Many of the passengers have not known each other prior to the accident, Mr. Somchai added.

Mr. Somjai explained that he was sitting on the passenger’s seat next to the driver when an oncoming big truck suddenly hit into the side of the pick-up truck. The vehicle then hit into many trees before stopped at a large tree, Mr. Somjai said, and many passengers were thrown out of the car.

Hua Hin Police said they are trying to identify and search for the driver of the pick-up truck, in order to proceed with the investigation.

Attention to detail folks. Right, why does a driver run away? If he is not to blame.

and TV posters were very quick to blame the truck driver here. And a politician! Bizarre.

What is somewhat ironic is the display of the Shut Down Bangkok scarf. Sad business, upon sad business.

Read the post above this one and see if you want to change your mind about who might be at fault here.(Post #17)

Can't be responsible for driver error or drink driving etc . That part of the area in question has great roads can't blame the government on this one. How bout taking responsibility for ones actions or I'll action.

? This won't help the loved ones family any though... Sad....just sad.

No he was probably hired by suthep because they had enough and were going home, which suthep did not like.

And if the driver saw all the anti protester clothing in the car, he would have every right to run away given the anti protester reputation for physical violence. Fear may be his reason for leaving. Also being unlicensed, carrying no insurance, being an illigal immigrant, drunk, etc. There are a whole lot of reasons for running away.
