I been in THailand since April 2004 and I dont miss the UK at all. Got my wife and we have a baby on the way. Got our house and a German Sheperd. and all the rest. I resently came to Thailand and married the love of my life. I spent three great weeks with her and our three beautiful daughters. Now, I want to move to Thailand but, my wife wants to come to America. So, if she and I can agree. I am 54 and cannot retire for 8 years. I have work in the Automotive field, construction, cabinetry and now I am do door installs. I had a shop do Upholstery on car, boats and furniture. Had to close it because of a bad divorce. My questions is this... How does one go about finding a job in Thailand? I appreciate any help on this! Thanks so much! I'm Dee and I'm from UK. I went to Thailand last year travelling - only for three months - but I loved it so much that when I got back I left again another four months later! Had to come back again after three months (which was about two weeks ago) but as soon as I have enough money I shall be back again. I found this forum and want to keep up with what's going on and hear other people's opinons about various places etc and what it's like to actually live there as I'd like to get a job (teaching English - hopefully) and stay for alot longer next time. Am nearing early retirement age in 4-5 years and have been searching around for potential places to land. Came across Thailand a few years ago, and after a bunch of trips narrowed it down. I guess it helped that I started going out with a Thai lady here in the states a couple years ago (just coincidence, not searching specifically for a Thai Lady) and we will marry later this year, beginning next. She's been here 10 years, widowed from her Thai husband, works 2 jobs and goes to school. She is from Hua Hin Cha Am area where she still owns a chunk of land. We went together and met her family last year (first time back for her in 10 years) Family nice, helpful, no asking for money, gifts and paying their share. Don't think we will settle on that land, probably look closer to the ocean and nearer Hua Hin. Lots of knowledge here I will hope to tap, and share my 2 cents worth (less than 2 bahts worth) Thanks!! My small, yet guiding principles of life is to look at people for who they got potential to become instead of who they appear as. At the same time I am trying to get as much as possible out of every day. I wanna go to bed knowing that I did my absolute best on a daily basis , knowing I have nothing to regret the next day (btw, does not always help). Looking forward visiting and posting on this forum. I have seen many interesting postings so far which I follow with interest, for example the classified ads. My dreams is to be able to once again come back to Thailand, to be closer to my family and for work. I had to go back home for some time to study and is loooking for possibilities to get back to next high season. Currently awaiting the answers as we speak. I think it will be a positive one and hopefully I am back in November already. I completely fell in love with Thailand from the first time and have ever since regarded Thailand as my second home. Now I am in Central America. I have since a short time been on the wagon for an array of drugs and alcohol problems. I´ve not gone newborn christian or anything, but I have started to find, albeit slowly, a new found lease on things like, er.. life. I don´t know how realisticly I can apply the idea of doing alittle good every day, going to bed with no regrets, but those lines prompted me to say a very warm welcome to you.
