Extending Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

My one year multiple entry visa ( OA type) expires in early July, but my current entry stamp expires in early June. I believe if I want to apply for the one year extension I have to apply two weeks before the actual visa expires. If I do another visa run in June that will mean I leave to stay till early September which will give me two months longer that the expiry date of the visa ( I do know this is legal).

My question is would it be OK for me to apply for the one year extension in late June after I have done the visa run bearing in mind that I will still have over two months left on my current entry stamp or would I be better of just extending my current entry stamp for one more month. I'm not really that clear on the rules.

I would just make a quick trip to Singapore to shop and return and receive another permitted to stay stamp for one year before your current stamp expires. As long as the visa is valid you should obtain a one year permitted to stay on entry under the current policy.

But if you want to start the immigration one year extensions of stay you need to visit immigration before the permitted to stay stamp expires with your financial/medical proofs.

After a second reading you do not have a multi entry O-A visa if you are receiving 90 day stays. What you have is a multi entry O visa (no A suffix). There is no requirement to apply two weeks before your permitted to stay stamp expires and the visa is not even a consideration. You apply any time during the last 30 days of any 90 day stay. So the answer is do it now; before the early June permitted to stay expires. No need to make any more visa runs.

Thanks for the quick reply Lopburi
