Back up. It ain't about drinking. Some nationalities are just LOUD any time of day. Public transport airports etc. No one is in the league of our friends from USA

If you asked a well traveled person in the USA what part of the US had the loudest people you would get many different answers. I'm sure I have seen more places in the USA than you and I guarantee you different populations in America are different. But of course I am the only person on Thaivisa who has taken the time to google the answer. I'm happy to report, "http://www.hear-it.org/Spain-The-second-noisiest-country-in-the-world." Up to nine million in the Spanish population are exposed to levels of noise that exceed the tolerance limit of 65 dB set by WHO.

Spain is the second noisiest country in the world after Japan, and Madrid is one of the noisiest capitals.

Of course that's not people. People from Texas would get my vote for the loudest because they have both Mexicans and Cowboys. But for the ability to yell at football games it's Seattle or Kansas city.

So when you pick the America one should be a tad more specific or you come across like a fellow who does not really know what is going on like a person with chavs, did I get that right?

I'm sorry. This is another one of those Aussie bashing American threads. I thought you might find it interesting that you don't know most Americans are Americans because depending on where they are from in America they are loud or not loud. I forgot it was another Aussie bashing Americans stereotypical thread. You would think at some point in time you would get over your envy of Americans. The battle of Brisbane was over 70 years ago after all.

Geez give me a break.." Envy Americans" ...<deleted> . High crime rates,....its not the land of the rich... Its land of very rich but sadly VERY POOR. ..Throw in stupid gun laws for starters and a country that in the main thinks the world stops at their coast line. Ummm let's not even get into your foreign policy and self given mandate to take care of the worlds issues, that in the main USA foreign policy created. By the way this isn't a swipe at American PEOPLE its more stating historical fact about your adminstration. And this post wasn't about any of this it was simply IN PUBLIC PLACES WHO TALKS THE LOUDEST.

Australia has an economy about the size of one State in the US (California). Aussies have a small economy, small population and a big penchant for mouthing off. America is too big to have any real meaningful accurate stereotypes except for you bar educated buffoons. The loudest Farang? The only possible outcome of a thread like that would be to start the usual stereotypical arguments that the uneducated pond scum love to discuss as if they had some basis in fact. And do you really think that posters who have escaped America to Thailand really shape foreign policy or give a flying F about it? Write a letter to the goof in the White house and leave us persecuted expats alone. For the record that last Presidential candidate I liked I was Perot and he lost.

Read what I was replying to...some American stating that I like others would ENEVY AMERICANS

You reply with comments about size of economy. Fact is on "richest countries per head of population" Au is ranked 5 and USA about 12. Check out crime rates. USA murders 5 times Au and actually they are about same as Thailand.

Google "most liviable cities in world" Au Melbourne is number 1 and about 3 other Au cities in top ten. MY POINT. I'm certainly not envious of living in USA.

I find the Chinese the most irritating in groups - louder than Americans and Aussies except you don't see many Chinese in the bars. Anyway I'd rather live in Australia than America any day of the week since my beloved UK has been totally destroyed over the last 50 years.

Why is it that Americans think that the rest of the world aspire to be Americans?

And if these foreigners claim that they don't, then it must be jealousy?

Have seen this attitude many times now among US citizens.

The thread is about who is the loudest. As usual, the topic changes into America bashing.

There is another thread running asking what nationality people are. With only about 1/5 the population of the US, there are more here from the UK. In fact there are twice as many from Europe as from the US.

I suggest that most of those who bash the US haven't even seen it. Take a 6 week vacation, rent a car and drive 15,000 kms and you will be able to see a good sample of the US and its people. I think you'll really be surprised. Certainly you will see great beauty and experience nice people and very good service in stores and restaurants. I think the prices of things will also surprise you and your vacation budget will stretch a long way.

It is my observation that the typical expat in the main expat areas of Thailand are the dregs of their own country - any country. I pay little attention to what almost all of them have to say because they really don't fit in anywhere. If I used ThaiVisa as my gauge of what Brits are like, I'd wind up hating all of them.

But I don't.

We don't call the Chinese farang so they are irrelevant on this topic of discussion.

Because for every 1 person who wants to migrate to Australia there are 10,000 who want to migrate to America.

Very good point. I actually haven't even been to the US. Both my sons in their 20,s have and LOVED it. Have also met some great people from US and like every country we have good and dickheads. Also what you suggest re grabbing a car and just traveling your vast country would be sensational. High flyer mate of mine who always does the 10 star thing recently did a road trip from LA down toward Mexico . Said it was best holiday ever andcthis bloke has done lots.

If America wanted Australia they would buy it. Australia is just small, small, small. Small cities, small economy, small criminals, small military, small everything. Small vocal chords make for quiet people. Americans are only loud because they have big vocal chords, big mouths and big everything. biggrin.png They also have a big sense of humor.cheesy.gif

How is that relevant to the topic?

And I think you'll find even those that are "bashing" Americans are in reality (and IMO quite rightly) upset about our government's and corporations' (to the extent they are even really "American" any more, the large MNC have of course transcended petty nationality identity) BEHAVIOUR in the world.

Sure historically some of that's been for the good, but in recent decades net effect has been such that most countries would prefer we just minded our own business.

And would be in the interest of true national security and the welfare of ordinary Americans if their government did just that.

So not bashing, just sayin'.

Problem is like many governments the US's isn't working primarily for the benefit of the common people, but for its owners.

If they want something else they can vote in change. If not they get what they deserve.

Heck they are loud enough to be heard everywhere else why not congress?

A post containing profanity has been removed. As this thread is just another excuse to bash other nationalities, and with this in mind:

In using Thai Visa I agree:

4) Not to flame fellow members.Flaming will not be tolerated. 'Flaming' is defined as posting or responding to a message in a way clearly intended to incite useless arguments, to launch personal attacks, to insult, or to be hateful towards other members. This includes useless criticism, name-calling, swearing and any other comments meant to incite anger.

5) Not to post inflammatory messages on the forum, or attempt to disrupt discussions to upset its participants, or trolling.Trolling can be defined as the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet by posting controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

7) Not to post slurs or degrading comments directed towards any group on the basis of race, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
