I remember when the trial was ongoing they were making excuses so the statute of limitation would expired. I'm guessing that is what happen and the cops family was paid so they won't press further charges. If they didn't accept the money, they will be empty handed either way with no money to fight the legal proceedings.

Not only that the cop who tried to cover for the kid was never prosecuted. With influential families, they can sway how the news are reported in Thailand too.

And the cop who stepped in and found all that evidence has resigned from the force.

Shame you only show interest in rich idiot drivers, an not poor drunk drivers who kill and disappear weekly of the Radar. Pure Envy. Why not ask how the Victims are today.

Show me an example of when a poor person has got the same treatment as the red bull ahole. If a poor person had done what he did they would be in jail right now.

It is only the very wealthy who can do what he did and get away with it.

Incorrect.

He'd be in a rubbish dump or field.

There was a fairly high profile case of a poor van driver which cut into the right lane with no blinker and got hit by a rich girl in a Civic. Van is not in a roadworthy condition with minimal tyre tread and as such swerves out of control, it doesn't have enough seat belts so some passengers aren't wearing any and get thrown out of the windows with multiple deaths. Van driver can't afford to pay compensation to the victims so blame is shifted to the rich girl.

Too right the minivan driver couldn't afford to pay as she was killed! The driver of the Honda Civic was 16 years old, unlicensed and driving a borrowed car. She was found guilty and sentenced to 2 years, suspended. A sentence that was upheld on appeal.

All of which are inconsequential in terms of liabilily. The evidence they used to convict her was that she was driving aggressively and at excessive speed earlier on the same road, that would never get a conviction in the west.

There was so much evidence implicating the van driver both as the cause of the collision and the deaths but they wanted to convict the rich girl so the victims would be fairly compensated.

Despite her family status she was an easy target because of the media attack on her. The media made her out into a villain by portraying her as a heartless rich girl. Note they played on things like how she called her dad at the scene of the accident. Any attempt by her to defend herself made her look even more heartless.

What he needs to do is drive his Ferrari in a similar manner in Singapore.

Singapore's laws aren't really that tough and they are more lenient on foreigners. Just search about the sultan of johor beating red lights in orchard road and got stopped by a traffic police officer who was immediately surrounded by the malaysian police escort and was told he better not step into johor in his lifetime. That's just one example. Another example would be the romanian diplomat who killed a few people. As for rich nobodies yeah a few of them got reduced sentences.
