Report Thai-Israel Cybersecurity Workshop: A New Era of Cooperation
Pictures courtesy of MOCT In a significant step towards bolstering cybersecurity, Thailand and Israel have launched their largest-ever government-to-government cybersecurity workshop. This initiative aims to enhance collaboration and fortify cyber resilience between the two nations. The Thailand-Israel Cybersecurity Workshop, which commenced yesterday, has been organized by Thailand’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) and the Israeli embassy in Bangkok. Held at the Carlton Hotel in Bangkok, the three-day event brings together around 200 Thai cybersecurity professionals from various sectors. The workshop focuses on tackling emerging cyber threats, sharing best practices, and developing strategic solutions to safeguard national and economic interests in our increasingly digital age. Israeli cybersecurity experts are at the helm, leading the insightful sessions. During the opening ceremony, Israeli Ambassador to Thailand, Orna Sagiv, highlighted Israel’s wealth of experience in countering cyberattacks on critical infrastructures. She emphasised the necessity for global collaboration: “Cyber threats know no borders, and Thailand is no exception.” This workshop is a product of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NCSA and Israel’s National Cyber Directorate (INCD). The MoU promotes bilateral cooperation through training, sharing vital information, and capacity building initiatives. “The cyber threat has no borders and requires more collaboration. Otherwise, we all stand to lose,” added Sagiv. Looking to future projects, Sagiv mentioned another MoU between the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) and Thailand’s National Innovation Agency (NIA), signed back in July 2018. She noted the potential synergy between cybersecurity and innovation initiatives, reflecting their interconnected nature. In a forward-looking gesture, the Israeli embassy plans to host approximately 40 Thai chief information security officers (CISOs) in Israel this December. This event is part of the Cyber Week 2025 at Tel Aviv University, designed specifically for the Thai delegation. “We are designing a tailor-made programme for the Thai delegation,” Sagiv shared. “We’re working closely with the NCSA to turn every new idea into an opportunity.” This platform underscores the mutual recognition of cybersecurity as a joint challenge. It presents a tremendous opportunity for both nations, who are firmly committed to driving advancements in the sector. As cyber threats grow in sophistication, collaborations like these become increasingly vital in ensuring national security and stable economic progress. The workshop marks a pivotal moment in Thai-Israeli relations, promising continued partnership and shared innovation in cybersecurity solutions. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-08-06 -

UK State Pension Payments to a Thai Spouse
Wouldn't it be when you cease to be UK resident. Is it 180 days? I know this will open a can of worms but as you say, when you tell them. Also you know you can get the money every 2 weeks. Get the money in your account sooner not swelling the Government's bank account. I got fed up struggling as I neared the pension pay date so I now get it every 2 weeks. -

Thai - Cambodia Conflict Thai Army: 2,500 Cambodian Troops Killed in Border Clashes
If a border has been agreed in the past by both countries, shouldn't it be registered with a neutral party and referred to in negotiations? Hard to believe either side in a conflict, but a border ratified with the UN, for instance, would mean no one can claim land willy nilly. I just cannot imagine how e.g. Germany could encroach into French land without being internationally ostracized.
