Best option for staying extra 60 days

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Was living in Thailand for many years on a Non-Imm 'B' and work permit and had no problems. Last year I returned to the UK for 9 months to work but on the spur of the moment got a flight here and landed on 5th Feb with a 'visa on arrival'.

I have a flight back to UK booked for May 1st and would like to know my options? I am looking at flying to Yangon and applying for a 60 day tourist visa and this looks favourite at the moment, however someone told me I can now get 30 days for a land border crossing so I could do 2 visa runs and the new crossing at Kanchanaburi is not far away.

a) Is it easy to get a 60 day tourist visa at Yangon?

B) Can I get 30 days at a land crossing and does anyone have experience of the Kanchanaburi route?

Reports for tourist visa in Yangon are good. You have to arrange a visa on arrival for there cost is $50.

You will get a 30 day visa exempt entry (it is not a VOA) at any border crossing because your are from the UK (G7 country).

There have been good reports for the new Kanchanaburi crossing. It will cost 500 baht for the visa and then a 200 baht service fee for them to take your passport across no mans land to get Myanmar stamps.

Thanks for that Joe, sounds like both options are available to me then and it's just a matter of my choice, think I will probably just do two runs to the border at Kanchanaburi and the head back to UK on May 1st
