I just went there to check it out because I live very close and the rates are 5,500 to join and they mentioned seeing a doctor and then 2,000 a month.

For the old equipment and small area I don't think it's worth the price. I also went to landmark hotel's fitness first and a 1 day membership was over 1000 baht and 5,000 monthly if I remember correctly so I took off. California fitness I remember was reasonable w/ tons of equipment if you're not a snob who wants no noise and few members.

I'm looking for a gym w/ a punching bag and free weights and a cardio machine or 2 that's it. Does anyone know where I can find one relatively close to Phloen Chit BTS station?

Does anyone have an update to this, since most gyms seem to be lowering prices these days?

What sort of update are you looking for?

...if the Vita Life gym is still so expensive for what it offers.

I was at Vitalife today. The standard prices are:

Entrance fee: 3,500 baht (includes medical fitness assessment)

Special 1-year promo until end of September: 16,000 baht/year

1 year: 1,600/month

6 months: 1,700/month

3 months: 1,800/month

1 month: 2,000

1 week: 1,400

1 day: 350

1 year "off-peak" (Mon-Fri 9.30-16.00 plus weekends): 1,300/month

It's smallish and fairly quiet. Owned by Bumrungrad and no hard sell.
