this has happened too many times
answer an ad
get no reply
but my spam box fills up soon after

any good ideas how to prevent or fight back?

i suppose i can track down the original ad and report it

but that is AFTER the damage is done

That's hoe craiglist works. If you answer an ad,and ya don't here nothing back. That usually means it's been sold.As far as spam goes, that's just part of Craigslist.Ya have to take the bad with the good

Of course i could avoid or NOT answer an ad but the only way i can think to find out if it is legit is to answer, the spamming thing is annoying and i believe illegal as it should be. Stopping it however is another story. I guess i am not the only one who can NOT control what gets sent to my email accounts.

What you can do with Yahoo or Gmail is to create identities or disposable addresses. Each person you respond to you assign a different address. If you get spammed then you simply delete that address, meanwhile your main e-mail address is untouched. I've been using the same e-mail account for ten years and with this method I hardly ever get spam, maybe once a year. Because you assign everyone a different address to contact you with, you can tell exactly who is sending you any spam and delete them.

If you reply to a craigslist address or craigslist post using the site's forms, your email address is automatically converted into a throwaway account before the recipient receives it.

If you answer to an email address posted in the body of a craigslist ad, good luck
