Securing a Thai Passport @ the Avenue's

Featured Replies

GF has to get a new thai passport for as going to go to Siem Reip March 6th. She went down to the office today at the avenue's at 9:30 AM and it was packed and was told the que for the day was filled and to return tomorrow. She also said that she was told to expect to show up early around 5 AM (the office opens at 8;30) in order ensure securing a number to be in that days que and that it would take about 9-10 days to process and send to her. Are there any other options outside of having to do a trip to Bangkok (someone told me that you can get the visa the same day there) in order to get the passport? Thanks!

You might have a problem in Bangkok too!

http://www.consular.go.th/main/ has a banner which states:

Notice!! Express Service is Limited to only 50 applicants/Day from 08.00 until 12.00 hrs.(Working Days) Effective from 01 January 2014 until futher notice.

In case you've had your head in the sand, there's been protests in Bangkok shutting down or limiting Government services for the past couple months!

last time I went past there was 6 people waiting at 10pm and when I returned at 1:30am there were 30 people waiting

Wifey went there just after it opened. It was busy, but we were in and out in an hour or so and the passport was at our door via the mail 4 days later. Today, things are drastically different.

your passport has been issued in Pattaya.

be prepared for secondary screening.

might be better to have it issued anywhere else?
