February 17, 201412 yr Can anyone help? I have been in Chiang Mai for two years and in Australia have a practically new car which I purchased late 2010 and only driven for a few months. Is it possible to bring it here without huge import taxes
February 17, 201412 yr If you go to the TV motor forum, they will tell you..."Forget About It" ....the taxes are too much...
February 17, 201412 yr You can get an idea of what it will cost you at the customs page. Scroll down to near the bottom for the breakdown. Thai Customs. You can see under 2 liters and under 220HP it is 187.47%. In 2016 those will be dropping but doesn't help you now, just for future reference - http://www.tax-news.com/news/Thailand_Restructures_Vehicle_Taxes____58922.html
February 17, 201412 yr Forget about it. Sell the car, bring the money here. But expect to pay more than you would expect for a second hand car in Thailand.
