Im currently on a multi entry tourist visa and looking to get married and change to Non-O Marriage visa.

Im confused to the procedure and requirements. I read so many different stories, what is fact as of right now?

Should I apply in BKK or UK?

Should I use visa company to help? Is it simple to apply alone?

Do I need to show proof of 400,000 in thai bank?

If anyone can help with a simple guidence thank you

You can do a change of visa status from a tourist visa to a non immigrant visa entry at Bangkok immigration. You would need to show financial proof of 400k baht in the bank or 40K baht income plus all other documents required for an extension of stay based upon marriage.

You could also get a single entry non-o visa from a nearby (not KL malaysia) embassy or consulate. You would not need financial proof to get the visa.

You could also get the non-o in the UK if you wanted to.

Thank you UbonJoe

So within Thailand I need to show proof of 400k but outside thailand its not needed.

Also ive heard about background checks. Are these still needed?

Outside Thailand you would only get stays of 90 days at a time. Meaning a border run every 90 days.

Inside Thailand you would get a 12 month Extension meaning no need to leave for a year.

ubonjoe, I hope this is where i can get an answer from you about clarification of the "B400K" requirement. I have been told you can use a "combination" to satify this requirement. Is that true? Thanks

The "combination" method is only available to those seeking an extension of stay based on retirement
