They just borrowed a croc from the local croc farm to do a re enactment for the local media, for safety reasons they were only allowed to use a baby croc.

I believe the debate about this guy maybe not being a crocodile is because of the similarity of his markings to a water monitor lizard.

Here is a picture of one of five 1 meter water monitors that grew up and lived in our pond, you can see the tail markings are very similar.
