Fapington can you tell me what you put in the A ,B and C, just want to check that you understand, it is easy to make a mistake ,as I said to Rice, start with Part A and only have the fertilisers for Part A in the work area and tick them off your work sheet as you put them into the drum and move them out of the work area as soon as you put it in the drum because if you do make a mistake you will not be able to tell until your plants are dead.

Hello All, has anybody tried these foam cubes? They are different than what has past

been discussed on other threads where some have had success and others, not so.

Again, I don't do greens, but they might be an alternative to starting mixes.

I have found them at both Accent Thailand and www.dutchgreenery.com where they

both had picture posted below.

The 3rd. pix shows the old and new cube's and perlite.

For tom growing, check out FB pages on DG's for some great pic's.

They foam cubes look pretty good.

I tried to buy a greenhouse from Dutch Greenery. Couldn't seem to interest them long enough to answer my questions, or get a quote. Nice enough guy though. Maybe I was too small of a fish for them.

Hello All, I only met him one time in Pakchong when I got vine clips from him,

but was very pleasant guy.

I just want to know what he does for drainage?

If you get the time to take and post more pic's, would love too see how the

project is going!

Hello All, that's some setup you have in the vid's, lot's of time and effort, good luck.

I didn't know before watching the vid's that you were using cubes for germinating

your seed, I tested the same as you were using and that's about as far as it got, the

slits were a pain in the butt, the new ones with the hole look it might be worth another

try.

Thanks Rice. Been seeing your chili's here as well. Looking good. I started my Potassium Sulphate additive as well. Did you notice your EC went up quite a bit after supplementing?

Hello All, I only mixed up the Fruit A-B, and mixed up my first barrel tonight, just ran out

and put the meter in and when I made it up earlier it was EC 2.5, now 2.6.

Mine could be my meter, it's 12 years old, doing a BKK run in Dec. and plan on picking

up a new one.

The new scale helps cut down my time weighing out the chems. I got the same oner you

got for the micro's, but toooooo small to to work with for me.

Looking forwards to more of your U-Tube sessions.

When are you going to get a third hand to help you?

I have a video uploading as we speak Rice555.

As for hired hands, I don't think I will hire any, to be honest. The size of this project is self manageable. Now that the "building" is done, most of it comes down to tedious seed planting, fish feeding, etc...

Out sourcing it all to labor would only land be back on my ass, the last place I need to be :)

Hi Rice555, I hung the yellow card with vaseline and caught a few straight away, anyway i was in Chaing Rai this afternoon and stumbled across a farm shop stocking some Hydro kit, they had a small hydro unit working outside[the clue],so i popped in for a look at what they had. Going down through the shelfs i found basically bug glue looked interesting, then i found the fly traps and attractant so i bought one at 99 baht and a small bottle of fly attractant its only 10ml but you only use three drops every three weeks, this was 120 baht.

I have set it up and hung it in the garden in between the Tomatoes,i kid you not i was gone for a few minutes and there was half a dozen flies in it,so maybe it works i need to trial it over a longer period but if i can save a few Tomatoes it is worth it.biggrin.png

By the time i finished messing about down there it was to late to photograph it, but i will in the morning and post it.

Could you please tell me where in Chiang Rai you found hydro stuff.

I would be coming from the Measai direction, carry straight on towards the bus station on the main highway, now before the bus station there is a major junction,as you go through this on the right hand side there is a row of shops second or third one along is a shop that sells hydro nutes, foam cubes, pot etc, they carry quite a lot of stuff some useful,I found magnessium sulphate here at 20 baht a kilo, they even sell mushroom mycelium, the oyster jars are 10 baht,I found that two jars did 10 more jars grain to grain and at that price it just ain't worth the hassle of doing it yourself.

I have found another shop that are selling NFT kits the day I went they had a small set up running out side but they were shut,I couldn't be bothered to hang around and as yet I haven't been back, this shop is on the way to Meachan on the right hand side,I am passing tomorrow and will get better directions in case your intersted.

Hey Rice555,

Both varieties of the "Soiux" tomatoes you sent me are performing very well. I tried only a few, as I kind of had my heart set on what I wanted to grow. In any case, here you can see tons of fruit set on the grape type soiux. The names escape me at the moment.

Are you sure that thats not a Sunset Falls? Pic from TGS.

Soiux and Super Soiux are round and red, no streaks and do well in heat.

Very nice looking by the way.

Hello All, Fapington, how many buckets per bag of Hydrton did you get?

I want to put my 10 5-gal. bucket net pots recirculating system together.

The net pots sit on the lip of the bucket like the lid of a bucket. The NP pot

is about the size of a volleyball.

Less than half of what you used per bucket, so I'm think 3 bags will work?

Liked your last U-tube vids, more coming?

Thanks.

Hey Rice,

My buckets are 20L (5 Gal) and I put around 15L of hydroton in each bucket.

I guess your net pot would only need 5-7 liters. Just a guess!

Hello All, thanks for that Fapington, the move to the farm has been put off

for another year, so I need something to do to keep me busy so I can't get

into any trouble.

The second flushing of of blossoms on 1 verity of my serrano's.

These toms are from TGS newsletter I got today, both are Brandywine Hyb.

The second one, I've been growing the one they crossed the BW with, the

Costoluto Genovese.

rice555

BIG BRANDY HYBRID Big Brandy Hybrid #2625 (30 seeds) This terrific heirloom-hybrid is a result of crossing Brandywine with New Big Dwarf. The hybrid is much higher yielding and earlier to mature than its heirloom parents, with all of the great flavor and fewer blemishes. Regular-leaved plants bear pink beefsteaks that weigh 12 to 16 ozs. and have all the wonderful taste of the original heirlooms. Indeterminate. 75 days. GENUWINE HYBRID Genuwine Hybrid #2542 (30 seeds) Crossing two different heirlooms creates a variety that is much higher yielding and earlier maturing, while retaining great flavor and fewer blemishes. Such is the case with this cross between Brandywine and Costoluto Genovese. Brandywine is legendary for sweet, rich taste while Costoluto Genovese has beautiful scallops, great production, and ability to set fruit in hot weather. Genuwine plants are regular-leaved and produce delicious 10 to 12 oz. fruits that have some of the ribbing of the Costoluto Genovese but with the larger size and fuller shape of a Brandywine. 70 days.
