I don't know if you're aware but Cathay Pacific has a smart saver promotion from Bangkok to Vancouver return starting from THB23,540. That price is before adding surcharges, taxes etc.

Departure Period 01 April - 31 October 14

Min/Max Stay 0/3 Months

do u have a link to the cathay promotion, or how to access that on their site? I found 28k on their site, after all charges about 39k, but i still need to get to victoria...if that is a lot better than AC then i might consider it. thanks!

Eva air is a little more, but only bc i have to book the connector to victoria from vancouver. 35k to vancouver then plus about 7-8k for return connector to victoria.

AC is not good is it? What is the main difference with EVA?

Air Canada lost my luggage 3 times on the HKK YVR leg, 3 times for 3 years in a row. that is 100% in 3 years. I also got flight entertainment not working 2 times on the YVR HKK leg.

bad luck, hard to believe 3 years in a row.

I flew united last trip 3 years ago, i had air miles from that, anyone know if i could redeem those somehow with a different airline? Star alliance, I just never have done this before...

I think the itinerary change of flight from BKK with Thai Air and Air Canada at HKK is a little bit to short that is why my luggage were left at HKK. First 2 times I had my luggage delivered in 4 days but the last time I had to wait 12 days. Their answer, they are not lost, we know where they are, they are just delayed.

I also had a other problem with a flight from Montreal to New York La Gardia, I check my luggage and took my flight but no luggage at La Gardia and I had a other flight that night from JFK to BKK. After inquiry about my luggage they were found at airport security because they put them on the previous flight and were left unattended on the luggage carousel. They also brook my TSA approved padlocks saying they did have to find the keys and it was possibly a emergency hazard. How about security, your luggage are not suppose to fly without you but they can.

well i just went back to cheaptickets.com to check available AC flights and nothing is left! I had checked the seating and all were nearly empty. perhaps the special ended.

Prices have jumped up 10k on EVA to vancouver, and looks like cathay is my best bet at about 39k to vancouver.

Cathay is a very good choice, great airline.

Here's the link to the Cathay Pacific smart saver promotion.

As I mentioned earlier, I still think you should try and look for a good Thai travel agency. Sometimes they can find cheaper fares with shorter layovers than you can through the internet, especially since you want to go through to Victoria.

Thanks, I was going to check at the emporium 3rd floor travel agency beside kinokuniya, any recommendations?

That Cathay flight at 23k, after i select my flight dates, the next page comes up with 32k, and after all taxes to 43k. At 23k it should be about 32k after all.

korean seems the best option at the moment, 34k to vancouver. but i have to add another 7k return for the connection to victoria, do i have to then get my luggage in vancouver and re-check in to the AC connector to victoria? Or if i have both tickets will they check them right through from bkk to victoria?

When you check-in for your Korean flight, ask the agent to tag your luggage to Victoria. Just show her/him your Vancouver to Victoria itinerary. The airport code for Victoria is YYJ; keep this in mind because she/he may not know it.

Upon arrival to Vancouver, you will clear immigration, pick up your luggage, walk to the right-side exit (for Air Canada domestic transfer), hand over your declaration paper, and proceed to drop off your luggage. Afterwards, you will take the elevator go to up, walk about 5 minutes, check-in for your Victoria flight if you do not have the boarding pass, and then proceed through security.

From experience, you need at least two hours between arriving to Vancouver and getting to the gate for your Victoria flight. Going through immigration is relatively fast, but waiting for the luggage and going through security can be slow.

The flight that I originally wanted has appeared back on cheap tickets.com and so i booked that, shortest flight time I could find and straight throught to YYJ.

TG to HK then AC to VANC and YYJ. 40,700.
