And then there's Lord Peter Wimsey and Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley, 8th Earl of Asherton. And don't forget Bruce Wayne, American billionaire, industrialist, and philanthropist ... not exactly a policeman but he did catch bad guys and drive the Bat Mobile.
