March 24, 201412 yr Easy Pass to be installed on motorwaysBANGKOK: - The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) is now negotiating with the Department of Highways to introduce the ‘Easy Pass’ system on its motorway system.EXAT governor Aiyanat Thinaphai stated Monday that negotiation with the Department of Highways for the implementation of the ‘Easy Pass’ toll collecting system has made substantial progress and promises closure in the near future. He said what remains is the issue of Value Added Tax (VAT). As of the present, tolls collected on EXAT expressways are VAT inclusive whilst tolls collected on the motorway system is not.As of the present, the EEAT database reveals that there have been more than 700,000 Easy Pass cards issued and on average more than 400,000 users of these cards daily.Should the negotiations succeed, it is expected that there will be an increase in Easy Pass users of between 50,000 – 60,000 per day in the first year alone, he said,.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/easy-pass-installed-motorways/ -- Thai PBS 2014-03-25
March 24, 201412 yr I'm sure you people can figure a way to handles these small problems. Easy pass should be available on all troll ways including airport parking.
March 25, 201412 yr Which of the Department of Highways' motorways are toll roads? What about the Don Muang Tollway Public Company; they are not bothered about any of this, aren't?
March 25, 201412 yr Great income earner. Drivers speed past the tollbooth, only to get caught by a new speed trap up ahead. Brilliant!
March 25, 201412 yr The not so Easy Pass still sucks. They still have to man the booths because of the occasional hiccup in the electronic reading of the cards. Sometimes the lines are longer in the Easy Pass lanes than the cash ones. When will Thailand get it right??

Sometimes the lines are longer in the Easy Pass lanes than the cash ones. When will Thailand get it right?? ..in several cases the lines in the Easy Pass lanes of the Chaengwattana Express Way were longer because cars without the prepaid electronic system stayed in the reserved lines for Easy Pass until the very last moment and then cars in the other lanes refused to let them enter in their lanes

March 25, 201412 yr Here was I thinking that they were to make a further outside lane on the roads, until I read the topic.

Sometimes the lines are longer in the Easy Pass lanes than the cash ones. When will Thailand get it right?? Maybe in 30 years when they finally get the sense to install a similar system to Singapore and Australia known as electronic tolling using so-called e-tags. You simply drive through the gentry at a speed of say 80km/h and hear a beep when the toll has been charged to your account and of course there are no people to man the system as there's no need! But wait, I'm getting way ahead of myself here! Although elevated tollways were able to be built, an electronic system of toll collection is too hard?
March 25, 201412 yr A very interesting article about easypass online today. Apparently the "authorities" in the US have been using it in New York to track motorists over 3000 miles of roadway. A man was suspicious and rigged up his card to alert him when it was being read.
March 27, 201412 yr They should fix the usual problems of Easy Pass holders getting bogged down because some idiot happens to line up on the Easy Pass lane so he can pass the tollway faster by paying and feighning not knowing he was on the Easy pass Lane.
