Enrolling at Sattahip temple

The mother of my son has signed him up for a 18 day stay at a temple in Sattahip.The boy is 11 years old and has some minor mental health challenges.

I don't know what this is all about as I haven't had a chance to talk to the mother, but I'm from nature very skeptical about everything that has to do with the fake religion in this country.

Further more the many negative news reports recently about a temple in Muang Sattahip, concerning drug use and dealing by many monks and lewd acts with a minor by the chief monk, don't improve my opinion.

Can anyone shed light on what this is all about and if it would be recommended for a boy of his age with the issues as mentioned or not.

No one on this forum had his son enrolled for a temple stay, or can explain to me what goes on in that event ?
