Turkish Ice Cream Parlor Battle in South Pattaya

turkey-2.jpg

PATTAYA: -- The co-owners of a Turkish Ice Cream Parlour on Pattaya Second Road and only meters away from a Police Box were involved in a fight with knives outside of their business on Tuesday Night.

Police made their way to the front of the Ice Cream Parlour and saw Mr. Cihan Cakmak aged 31, who had sustained two knife wounds to his right shoulder and armpit.

Nearby and in handcuffs was the suspected attacker Mr. Semih Bele aged 26 and both men had different stories which they claimed were behind them fighting.

Mr. Bele claimed that he wanted to finish the partnership with Mr. Cakmak and intended to start a new business with his Thai Girlfriend in the Nong Pla Lai area.

He is believed to have taken a Fridge from the Ice Cream Parlour which Mr. Bele wanted for his new business. This angered Mr. Cakmak and the pair had agreed to meet on Tuesday Night to sort their issues out.

They sat drinking together and eventually the situation escalated into a fist fight and Mr. Bele claimed he stabbed Mr. Cakmak in self-defense.

Deport them both, there is enough hot headed farang idiots in the country as it is. If you are involved in a fight and use weapons your visa should be cancelled and stamped never to return. Might make some farangs act a little more civil if they know boom boom is going to be cut off.

Why deport them?

Seems like they are picking up some aspects of thai culture very well; drinking together then fighting, armed or unarmed. Whats the big deal?

Why are some tv csi experts so concerned about how the 20 and 30 year olds fund the business? Some young people actually save money from before, have money, family support, etc etc. Logically money laundering would create a much larger business then an ice cream shop, like a fancy disco, big club, big store, etc.

They can register a foreign business and have a work permit. Then they can get a B Visa, which is likely that they do not have. Their are lots of foreigners operating businesses illegally here in Thailand especially in Pattaya and Phuket.

will someone please tell me why all the post refer to foreigners as fara ngs? it is pronounced FALong not farang! it is irratating to consistently see foreigners say falang when Thai's say falong!

Good to see that the grammar police as well as the retired teachers are still active on TV.wink.png

Ahh...but the story gets more interesting if you read onto the full article on the Pattaya website:

One guy talks about giving the other guy 50,000 baht to help him get a new visa to stay in Thailand.

But these guys are 20 and 30-something Turks, One of them clearly isn't married to a Thai because the article talks about his Thai girlfriend.

So how exactly are these mooks able to operate a business in Thailand and stay in Thailand under the Immigration rules. Too young for retirement visa. No marriage visa, at least for one. And I doubt their ice cream parlor employs enough Thais to qualify for business visas for the pair.

So how were they able to stay here in the first place, and how exactly was 50,000 baht going to help one of these guys get a new visa?

Moreover, where are a pair of 20 and 30 something Turks getting the funds to open and operate a "Turkish ice cream parlor" in Pattaya???

The article, of course, doesn't say.

Mr. Cakmak’s story was completely different. He claimed to have given Mr. Bele 50,000 Baht so he could receive a new long-term visa in his passport. His current visa has nearly expired and Mr. Cakmak claimed he confronted Mr. Bele over the lack of action over his visa despite him handing over the money already. This led to the fight and subsequent knife attack.

Spot on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder how their Thai girlfriends will like living in Turkey.

They will have to quietly take their place after the dog in the family. After that they will realize these were not THE falangs they had in mind all along.

Being Muslims they won't have dogs in their family for the same reason they don't eat pork because Noah said they are dirty.

Super good points on a great side topic. This article is about ice cream. Stay focused.

Always good to see someone who is not a Mod commenting on an off-topic subject then telling everyone else to stay on topic!

The report is actually about 2 farangs fighting, not about ice cream.

They should both take a few cones and just cool it. At the cutting edge of that business there's enough cream to go around.

They should stop acting like muffets, be thankful they're not curds and whay their options.

Finally some hillbilly morons from Anatolia find it worthwhile to copy the Thai-style. However, looks like they did a lousy copy stunt so far.

I can remember back in the West End of London some years ago, when the Turks and Cypriot unlicensed mafia type gangs tried to monopolise the mobile hamburger and hot dog stands, soft drinks street vendor sales and ice cream van areas. Anyone they considered intruding on their turf was either threatened, beaten up and even murdered in some cases.

This is how these people operate and have done so for decades in many countries all over the world.

Best to clamp down on these people now before they have a chance to gain footholds here, if they haven`t done so already?
