Six murder suspects set to surrender, say police
The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- Six Thai fishermen accused of being involved in the murder of two Indonesian naval officers in Indonesian waters will soon surrender to police, a source in the police investigation team said yesterday.

It is expected the Attorney General's Office will assign official investigators tomorrow, after a request from the Indonesian Embassy for a full probe. Last week police issued arrest warrants for 12 crew members of a Thai fishing boat, initially charging them with violating the Thai Immigration Act, and arrested three men.

The source said the three men gave useful information and confessed to involvement in the killings, which were allegedly committed by eight crew including the captain.

Police contacted the fishing company which the six men were working for in Malaysian waters and were told the company would present them either this Friday or Saturday or next Sunday.

The men were identified as Lampian Khanthee, Nadda Khum-eard, Daeng Khanthamanee, Suthee Khiripop, Sorlae Pandika and Choom Yodwongsa.

The Question is, why , why did these people murder and to murder a member of the Indonesian Military is paramount to nearly declaring war , very stupid thing to do , People in Thailand need to realise that this sort of behaviour died out with pirate Pete and honestly will not be tolerated in this new age of common sense, this also applies to what has been happening on the mainland of Thailand. The word is respect.bah.gif

I wonder what Thailand would do if something like this escalated into war? Seems they would be seriously outgunned.

I guess this must be more of that Thainess we hear so much about.

In the UK if you are very naughty the police go round to your place and arrest you. It's been part of our culture for years.... Britishness if you like. Here the police invite you round to their place at your earliest convenience.

Well, from memorry, in the original story the fishing boat was using documenation relating to another boat. Indonesian marines boarded the boat and ordered it to go to an Indonesian port for inspection. Two marines stayed on board and it was these men who were killed. The fishing boat returned to Thailand quickly. That all sounds a bit suspicious. Perhaps they were carrying drugs. Knowing drug smuggling in Indonesia carries the death penlaty, returning to an Indonesian port for the boat to be inspected would not have been something they wanted to do. Of course none of that can be proved as the evidence would have been disposed of long ago.
