dharmabm
not sure what that article is supposed to mean, but arch linux is ALWAYS new. there is no such thing as new releases as it is a rolling release distro (that's the beauty of arch). there are new releases of installation media, but the most recent one is from March 1, not today. anyway, give it a try, once i did 5 years ago i never went back to anything else (for my personal machine)! Razer64
That piece was Tweeted by Softpedia earlier today. Just thought I'd pass it along. It is one of the Linux distros I have not tried, but mean to. I prefer the minimalist distros for my personal use. Puppy Linux, and Damn Small Linux help me rule my digital world. The machine I am on right now is running Puppy Linux Precise Puppy 5.7.1 http://puppylinux.com/download/

dharmabm
then you should definitely try arch, it's as minimalist as you can get - aside from the core system you get to choose EVERYTHING that is installed. it's a little bit of work at first, but not too difficult if you follow the instructions carefully. Razer64
Really? I did not know that. I will have to look into it. It will be one of my reading projects for today. Or if you're in Thailand and want to burn me a copy and mail it to me, I shall be happy to compensate you for that. I'm running a 32-bit machine. With Puppy, I boot from a USB stick and run my whole show without a hard drive. I can even remove the USB stick and run Puppy from memory! Now, that's hard to beat! dharmabm
just go to https://www.archlinux.org/download/ and choose a local mirror, singapore will probably be the best (or use a torrent download). it's only a bit over 500mb. i would probably recommend using this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide installation guide rather than the standard one, as it doesn't assume you know anything. if you have problems downloading i can mirror a copy, but my server is in singapore anyway so probably wouldn't make much of a difference. BTW, another thing i love about arch is that they have one of the best and most complete support wikis i have ever seen, i actually use it for reference whenever troubleshooting another distro (and many times google searches for linux questions hit the arch forum or wiki first). the forums are also some of the best i have seen in the linux world, and i've been doing this for a LONG time! dharmabm
one other thing, if you want a taste of arch without the hassle of installation and configuration you can try archbang first, it is a complete minimal installation of arch with openbox and some basic applications preinstalled, and you can test it as a liveCD before installing. check here http://wiki.archbang.org/index.php?title=Main_Page
