Broken Multi-Port Valve Fitting

Can anyone help me?

Yesterday we had our pipe work re-done, filter media changed and a new pump installed.

The installers yesterday showed me that the fittings for the inlet/outlet on the multi-port valve are broken. They told me these fittings can't be bought and the whole multi-port valve needs to be replaced.

Is this true? If so, any idea on the price of a multi-port valve?

All the best,

Matt.

I think the cost of a new multiport valve would depend on the brand name of the filter. I believe these valves are brand specific. In other words you will have to use the multiport valve made for your filter.

Why not just look at their web sites on line first to see if they carry the brand of filter you're using now. Chances are if they have the filter they'll also have a replacement valve or can order it from the distributor.

In many cases individual multi port valve parts can indeed be purchased. There are also many filters on the market that are either a copy of the original manufacturer's design, or rebranded under licence and therefore use the same MPV.

As fdimike suggests, the way to go is to contact those who have web sites and ask them. Perhaps sending them a photo of the broken part might help.

What is the brand of the filter ?

Edit : I see from your post that it is either a Hayward or a Emaux, but fail to understand how a union can be the solution if the housing is cracked. The union screws into the housing.

I think that union is an Emaux union but they are pretty universal - you just need to know if it's a 1.5" or a 2" one. The company you provided the link to could send you one by EMS - you'd get it in about 2 days if you order fast enough. These unions should be only screwed hand-tight (they have an O-ring).
