AA's got meetings all over, many per day.

Some in Thai (you didn't say)

Best IMO to work on that first, trying for more than one at a time isn't recommended.

Lots of online meetings as well.

But of course the addict needs to want (need) to change, not a matter of "willpower".

Yes, she be Thai.

And yes, apparently she has expressed the desire to find help to stop

Why cannot kill 2 birds with one stone ?

Perhaps thats the solution.....weed addiction.

No, one at a time, IMO alcohol first since that affects all the other decisions in life so much.

Believe me that's hard enough way too much stress likely to relapse several times anyway, don't try to take away nicotine, encourage lots of caffeine and sweets if she like that, most important to get intensively into the AA program, get a sponsor from the start - same-sex of course, go to 90+ meetings in the first 90 days, ideally keep that up for the first year or two, don't slack off to 3-4 per week until you feel very solid in your sobriety.

Prayers, phone calls, reading, openly sharing with others, speaking and volunteering for the groups, obviously working the steps with your sponsor, outreach to other newcomers all very important.

It's a tried and true approach, much better success rate than any other - but still far from majority, she has to really want it and be willing to give up all her own ideas let the brainwashing sink in for a long time before she can trust herself to make decisions for herself again.

May well find the healthier outlook and thorough honesty required takes the sails out of the gambling habit as well, just as a side effect. If not, wait for at least a year of continuous sobriety from alcohol before explicitly attacking the next addiction.

And PS all mind-altering substances are out, even ganja, always tell dentists/doctors you're an addict shortest/lowest possible runs of painkillers etc
