Slinbox streaming with 3BB Premier in Chiang Mai

I use SlingBox to stream USA television programs, and need a streaming rate of at least 800 Kbps to get a clear picture.

Is my Internet Service Provider (3BB) controlling/throttling the stream speed?

Last few mornings, I cannot get a picture at all - only 168Kbps.

Tested download speed: 4.8; upload:. 87, ping: 37.

Anyone else having similar problems? Is it 3BB?

If I call 3BB Customer Service, what do I need from them?

Last week, same problem (in morning). Problem corrected by evening time.

(Last night, my streaming rate was 1284 Kbps, with a crystal clear picture!)

Can someone explain what's going on, and what action I need to take? Thanks

The only thing you can do is try another provider. I had cable Internet in Pattaya and it was perfectly acceptable for Slingbox but when I moved and got TOT and it is barely acceptable so I don't even use it anymore. Found download sites so the Slingbox is no longer a necessity over here as it once was

Don't know what model you have but have heard that the newer HD models require more streaming bandwidth than the original Slingboxe's

Here is a good website for Slingbox tips and tweaks, maybe someone there will be able to help you

Try an app for your PC or Mac called XBMC - it will get you many TV channels from around the world including the US in HD and mostly, SD

Watched the Pac Man fight tonight on it.

Easy to set up.

If you don't feel like doing all the legwork to get everything together, there is a guy on ebay that sells it for about $3 USD with easy install instructions.

Lot's of movies, sports, US an UK TV as well as XXX clips and movies. Once you get the hang of using it and learning it, the more you will get out of it.

If you know Linux and have a linux box, you will get a lot out of it, including MythTV

But you will need broadband.

Easily worth the money as I have watched lot's of 1st run movies in HD on my PC or I can just run an HDMI cable from my PC to my HD TV

Note that it is open source and can be a bit buggy at times, but it's a nice add-on to cable or sat TV

It's not a substitute for TV, but a nice addition.
