Popular Post ShannonT
Oh dear oh dear. For all those people who said, Suthep doesn't want power himself, hmmmmmm. Do people really want to give this bloke this absolute power to control anything. He needs to step away from the adulation of his own support. It seems there are so many TVF members who have been taken as fools My Thai wife and her friends where there and she says Suthep never said any such thing even some one is bad translating Thai, or some one is making fools out of Farlang who jump the min they her the word Suthep The are thousands of Thais protesting and that includes my wife and her friends, who would never allow Suthep to take over the rule of the country, he is just a leader they put up with to bring the people together Instead of jumping the gun, when do you not have the common sense to wait and see what the real leader sof the Dem Party have to say Wake up mate ! of course your Thai wife said that. As one of his followers she will be brainwashed to see only the perceived "rosy" things, completely unable to see through this meglomaniac. Obviously she is a bit like my partner from Surat.............."Suthep good man, he stop corruption" despite her two uni degrees, this is all she can say of him. The speech by Suthep mentioned in the OP was actually shown on all Thai news channels yesterday on repeat for several hours. It's also on YouTube if your wife wants to watch it again and find out what exactly he said and what he didn't say. It's also on the official PDRC Facebook page, so unless someone doctored the entire speech by Suthep and somehow streamed it live to BlueSky, one has to assume it is indeed what he said. Unfortunately some TV members are up to their necks in yellow goo that they won't believe it even if people are starting to be executed by firing squads, as Suthep said he would have the power to do in his speech.
NeilSA1
This is truely the watershed. IF the newspaper report is untrue - it will prove beyond all doubt that the Reds are rouges. They will lose support. IF the newspaper report is true - it will prove beyond all doubt that Suthep cannot be trusted, and is a liar. He will lose support. Hopefully, either way, this will result in the Thai people joining together in mutual assent, which is a positive. rebelplatoon
April fool s is past us I thought. . . Rule number one is to never involve HM in political turmoil. I guess this is some anti article as I listen to all different channels and never heard such a thing.
potters
“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.”― Adolf Hitler “Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live.”― Adolf Hitler “It is not truth that matters, but victory.”― “By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise.”― Adolf Hitler “The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.”― Adolf Hitler Rantings of another madman sounds all too familiar. Yes the Shins have to back off now and let credible leaders come forward.(where) However those of you who dilligently stand by Suthep are in need of Medicare if you seriously think he is the way forward. Like a lot of sensible posters on here i fear for the country and the people. How many businesses have gone under already due to this stupidity. How many people have lost their jobs. Nothing any of what we say will make any difference to the outcome. Yet people on TV hurl insults at each other ,which i may say is very brave when hiding behind a computer. You will find boredom where there is an absence of a good idea and the insults will follow. It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui. rebelplatoon
As far as i see it this appointment as coupleader by HM is nowhere to be found. He talks about taking control away from ms flower. He talks about when i blow my whistle be ready. And about another push that might last 15 days. Not one word about HM. Also the term coup leader is not used. He talks about control. More and more i am convinced we re better off with a temporary government of neither side for business sake, if needs be, installed by the militairy. Save us from the likes of Jatuporn, the Sae Khu clan and Suthep.
Basil B
Me think Suthep is an Red in disguise who has infiltrated the PCAD to discredit them. The sooner the PCAD denounce him the better.
TheReporter
Suthep's true colours are showing and he is proving himself to be a mad man whose goal is to turn the country into a tyrant ruler, rather than democratically elected leadership. This should be a serious concern for Thai people and they need to stop supporting his anti-government protests.
Jeffreyake
There is only one way to save Thailand - overthrow the populist corrupted government, to achieve this goal one should use strong measures - like Field Marshall Kittikachon when he fought with communists. Now the same destructive idea (but in new mask) raise it's head again and, as history teaches us, only a strong leader can cut this head one more time. Mr Suthep! The fate chose you to be a savior of your motherland. I wish you all the success and good luck! Edited April 7, 2014 by Jeffreyake
bkksteviejai
Looks like suthep has spent too much time in the sun. Maybe its because he has been blowing his whistle too much.. ....or having his whistle blown at the time......
climbertrev1
So Suthep wants to be the puppet master of the PM/govt he chooses. Well, it's not much of a change from the current style of govt with Thaksin being Yinluck's/current govt puppet master. Then that just leaves the question of choosing the lesser of two evils (i.e., puppet masters) which may be impossible this time. Wait, maybe the Thai people should reject puppet masters? Naw, never happen. You have failed to mention the most significant difference between the current (Yingluck)government and one led by puppet master Suthep. Yingluck stood for election and won a landslide. In the recent elections which Suthep did his utmost to destroy the government again gained most of the popular vote. Suthep should be in jail now on trial for insurrection and or terrorism. His leadership which tried to stop individual Thai voters from casting their vote is criminal. Anyone supporting this criminal should be ashamed of themselves.

tonypace02
The headline is rather vague. I got the impression that Suthep wanted the king to appoint himself, HRM, as coup leader, Otherwise the reflexive pronoun is inappropriate here, it lead me to wonder if Suthep is asking the king, who is non-political, to change his position and become a political entity. Yahooka
Never had any symphaty for the Thaksin clan, but when I observe Sutheps bizarre ramblings I pray to God that this fool isn't gonna get any kind over power here. mikemac
Here you go...his true colours are finally coming through.....will be funny watching all his TVF supporters squirm in their pants or maybe even pee a little lol Here we go, another clown who thinks the multitude of PTP detractors on this forum are also Suthep lovers. Do you actually read the comments on this forum ? If you did you would know that a lot of us have no time for crazy Suthep, and even less for the crooked, corrupt and soon to be in prison PTP. These "TVF supporters" are all in your tiny mind, and I for one won't be squirming or peeing, just shaking my head. And if this report turns out to be crap started by the red propaganda machine you will look like a real goose.

wandasloan
Also what the hell do the UDD think they are doing by making the police official UDD guards? Who happen to be paid by the taxpayer, and let's face it, I doubt many reds pay tax. Please. It is extremely common practice in Thailand and many, many other countries to hire uniformed police as security at private events. Go to a wat/mosque fair and see it. Go to a Thai Premier League football match and see it. etc, etc, etc. As The New York Times put it, in 1989, "... the cities, the police, their unions and the private employers praise this development as bringing more income to police officers and better security to worried communities at no public cost." Or do you think the public should pay for the Labour Party's politicians' security when it holds its annual convention? .

Alwyn
I laughed so much a bit of wee came out. This is the same person that all of his supporters here in TV shouted that Suthep has no interest in power or running the country. her's going to ask the King to endorse him, he feels pally enough to ask the King to undermine the whole democratic system of his subjects because they can't win an election legitimately does he? Mental case.
benny1616
Thailand's biggest problem is not the Shinawatra mafia clan, cause you can use the courts to get rid of them. No, the main problem of this country is that there seems to be no alternative. Suthep has swallowed his whistle if what's written here is true! The only way forward is to reform police, the justice system, throw Thaksin in jail through Interpol and have new elections. of course you can do this with all the highest courts in thailand wich are since a long time in the hands of the yellows :-D no, more easy is as the first step to put this criminal and politcal clwon suthep in a prison and forbid his dictator lover party from the rich.. next step, give a with the majority electet goverment full controll of the army.and finish with the exploitation of the ordinary hard working thais. next step not allow the king anymore to meet in politics. and than cut the huge net profits from all the companys, raise the taxes for them and other rich people and give they staff a really decent salary.and a good pension to live on. this is the solution. Traveling Sailor
Absolutely idiotic idea, which will have little support. Given though that his is from Khaosod, I'm not going to give it much credence until it is reported in BP and The Nation, if he actually did indeed say this. The country needs significant reform, but not led by him. I totally agree! This man wants to take Thailand back 20 years. I hope that someone who is truly "Middle-Of-The_Road" appears to move this country forward, not backward. Prior to actually reading the article, I was hoping that Sutep was requesting that HM the King appoint a neutral "head-of-government" to initiate reforms. Now that would be a step forward. May God and Buddha bless the Thai people with a savior. They could sure use one about now.
oneday
Mr. Suthep elaborated further that he would then install himself as the "Sovereign Body" who will wield absolute power via numerous "Revolutionary Decrees" and adoption of a single charter provision as a legislative blank cheque - in the same manner of military dictators in 1960s, such as the notorious Field Marshal Sarit Thanarat. What a megalomaniac this guy is. Power hungry through and through.
max72
Khaosod have such a purely dreadful history given almost all the reporting they have done, to such a degree that they are often completely isolated regarding the stories that they cover and their own inimitable way of reporting them, that it would be prudent to wait until this is covered by other news agencies. Good grief, it has been covered in other media, both Thai and non-Thai. Those of you who supported this monster uncritically over the past six or more months should be a little ashamed of yourselves. That said, this is nothing that wasn't glaringly obvious to those who bothered to look at what he was saying rather than just cheering him along. You forget the threats to kill Yingluck, the list of 3000 to be eradicated after he wins, and much more of the same. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand What can you pretend from not educated farangs who come here just to exploit little girls ? They love Suthep because he guarantees the quasi slavery middle age system in Thailand will be permanent. Moreover all those Suthep lovers don't understand Thai, even less the Thai with this southern accent. Nor they have an idea of what this ultraassassin ultraconvicted crook "curriculum". Actually, he agreed with Prem when he stated to mantain the system intact, it would be acceptable to kill 150 000 people. The comparision with Hitler is absolutely correct.

rickirs
"Suthep Thaugsuban has vowed to ask His Majesty the King to approve his effort to seize power from government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra." Suthep just went from the Twilight Zone to a Land Where No Man Has Gone Before. Thailand 2007 Constitution: CHAPTER II-The King, Section 8. The King shall be enthroned in a position of revered worship and shall not be violated. No person shall expose the King to any sort of accusation or action. CHAPTER III-Rights and Liberties of Thai People, Part 13. Right to Protect the Constitution, Section 68. No person shall exercise the rights and liberties prescribed in the Constitution to overthrow the democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State under this Constitution or to acquire the power to rule the country by any means which is not in accordance with the modes provided in this Constitution. If Suthep is really serious, there will be (and maybe already is) some constitutional issues with his proposal. But I doubt he will even be granted to speak to the King. Maybe Suthep's comment was just a late April Fool's joke.
Kooweerup
Does Leste Majeste trump murder in Thailand? The all mighty one may very well find himself in a great deal of trouble. WhizBang
So let me get this straight. Suthep is going to ask a constitutional monarchy to appoint him dictator? Yeah, that's gonna happen. Not! Please read some other news sources. The Khaosod article at the top of this thread is all lies. If it is true that the khaosod article is all lies and propaganda, then the mods should close this thread and place a retraction on the front page.
