Sorry, I forgot to recommend something to the OP. The one necessity to have in any film collection must be two of the greatest films ever made. They are Godfather l & ll. :o

Godfather II first, Godfather I second...

  • 2 weeks later...

I personally do not think ALI was all that good, especially in comparison to the excellent documentary 'When We Were Kings' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118147/) - but it is worth seeing too, I guess.

A few more:

Dead Man (Jim Jarmusch) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112817/

Killing Zoe (Roger Avary) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110265/

The Road Home (Zhang Yimou) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0235060/

Layer Cake (Matthew Vaughn) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375912/

The Business (Nick Love) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0429715/

Cypher (Vincenzo Natali) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0284978/

It's not about my top 3 but seeing as this is a movie thread, hopefully one of you Barry Norman's :o can help.

The mrs is driving me mad and wants to know when this is on in the UK (cinema or TV). She saw it advertised on one of the Sky channels today.

It is a horror film that is filmed in Thailand but is in English with Thai sub-titles. I also think some of it was filmed in Nana or Cowboy as there are scenes in a Go-Go bar.

She says the name of the film is the letter P with sara ii on top of the "P", so it is like pii or in Thai ผี. can someone help or tell me if youv'e seen it. She's driving me potty :D

P.S. I think Pii or ผี means spirit or ghost in Thai

:D

Firstly (I've scanned all the posts) a few greats I didn't see mentioned :

High Plains Drifter (thought this was surreal when I saw it in 196x)

Unforgiven (Eastwood , I've read , thought this was such a good story he bought the rights

and waited until he was old enough to play the role)

Man on Fire (read the book years ago , think it was set in Greece , and the film was

faithful to the book)

2001 (At the time visually stunning in parts , but so confusing I had to go and buy the book

after to find out what was going on)

Cold Mountain (With two female leads , did I see a post about that?)

Matchstick Men (appropriate in this forum maybe because when the girl apologise to Cage ,

who plays a scammer scammed with terrific phobias , for taking his

money he replies "you didn't take it , I gave it to you")

Secondly I would second :

The Quiet American (Beautiful movie)

The Last Samurai (but for the Japanese guy not Cruise)

Men in Black (been a fan of Tommy Lee Jones ever since)

Lock , Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (Vinny Jones superb and it took me back

to the "sarf lunnun" of my younger days)

Could go on and on and on and on but......

:o

I have ordered some Thai DVDs in the past from www.ethaicd.com. They were reliable, if slow to deliver. However, 2 films I want are unavailable there, namely MON RAK TRANSISTOR and RUANG TALOK 69.

Does anyone else know another source for these 2 films (sent to Europe)?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Trainspotting

The Constant Gardener

Down by Law
