tutsiwarrior
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre The Seven Samurai The Godfather 'nuff said; you don't even haveta mention actors or directors to know who they are, an' the OP only wanted the top three... tutsiwarrior
am I the only one to notice?...that there are few female leads or themes in the the above discussion... is our selection of all time great movies to be disqualified on general principles as there may be no woman type influenced selection available? Are womaned themed movies and triumphant female performances to be ignored? I like Claudette Colbert, Ida Lupino, Vivien Leigh, Bette Davis and the raft of women film people from the end of WWII to the present, serious artists and not just bimbos...what of their contribution? Are we to debase ourselves by not acknowleging the woman's contribution... (I ain't no one to talk...my favorite films above ain't got no female leads...Walter Huston in Treasure when confronted by lonely pardners dreaming about pu**y out in the wild he says 'better not ta think about women...it ain't good for yer health...' Backpack_thailand
Sorry, I forgot to recommend something to the OP. The one necessity to have in any film collection must be two of the greatest films ever made. They are Godfather l & ll. AGREED! Outside of the above two best movies EVER, here's my three: Shawshank Redemption Pulp Fiction Jungle Book

Tywais
Since someone mentioned that there were few movies with female leads mentioned I will post three that I like (disclaimer: not to everyone's taste of course). I realize these are rather lame choices but any of my top three have been mentioned already. Sleepless in Seattle (Meg Ryan) Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) So Close (Qi Shui) Flight of the Phoenix (original) Hotel Rwanda Edited June 9, 2006 by tywais

alexth
I would also like to add "V for Vendetta", some would compare it to a Superman, Batman kind of movie. In fact, it's more than that, it points out the result of manipulation and chaos, I'm sure J.W. Bush hates it, the action is great and the ideea is better

SamuiJens
If I was you, I'd buy son concert DVD's of bands you like. Nothing better than to see a "Live" concert in the comfort of your home and will take away you blues as well. Just a good suggestion.
