extend stay in thailand

Featured Replies

I asked my mother-in-law come to Thailand to help taking care of baby. She got non-O visa for single entry 90 days. While after she arrived Thailand, we failed to upgrade to multiple 1 year visa, since thai immigration say only monther can, mother-in-law can not. Hard to believe that..And they say non-O visa can only do extension for 7 days, even worst than a tourist...

I decide to apply tourist visa for my mother-in-law for next entry, which is single entry of 60 days stay. I'm thinking of when the visa comes to an end, if we drive to Cambodia through the boarder Poi Pet can help or not?

Two possibilities in my mind

1, get a 30 days Cambodia visa to entry Cambodia then come back to Thailand, according to Thai-Cambodia agreement, we should be able to entry Thailand by holding Cambodia visa and stay 30 days(in Cambodia & Thailand together)? Is it true? practical?

2, After get into Cambodia boarder, is it possible to apply tourist of Thai for another 60 days? thinking at the boarder of Cambodia will have no Thai embassy/consulate...if can how long will it take to get the visa?

Thanks for any information or advice.

You cannot get a visa at the border, only a visa exempt entry and if from a G7 country you will bet 30 days, otherwise only 15. Visas are only issued by an Embassy or Consulate. In Cambodia, the Embassy in PP takes 4 days to issue the visa unless you use an agent. The consulates in Laos, either Vientiane or Savannakhet, are haster, they accept applications on the morning of day 1 and issue the visa the afternoon of day 2. Double enrtry visas are available.
