Hello. I have learned from another part of this forum that if I choose to work my internet business in Thailand it may not be legal. Does anyone have any information on me being able to work my online business via Thailand/ Internet/ phone. Also, can this help me get a work visa?

This one should be quite amusing. Bailey, if you didn't exist, we would have to invent you. Would you like to be the star of a documentary film I am making? Kind of like Beverly Hillbillies, but updated to today's Chiang Mai.

Of course you can work your online business in Thailand, but it may depend to some extent on what that business is about.

Of course you can get a work permit to do so.

There are, of course, some rules and regulations to follow. Basically, you set up a company under Thai law. Get a local agent or lawyer to help you with that!

Dumber & dumber..... :o:D
I find it rather diverting, but then that’s perhaps because I am looking for any possible excuse to divert myself from some work I should be doing urgently – filing my tax return.

It is a network marketing company if that helps. And if this question is so dumb then can yo direct me to a part of the forum where it was already answerd because I know i am nto the first person to ask.

Are you actually making decent money already in a network marketing company working online? Like a multi level marketing thing like Herbalife? I have read only 1 percent of people make any real money doing those things, so tell us more.

Just to save you the time, it sounds like your chance of getting such a thing legalized and a work permit are really remote.

To get a work-permit you have to form a Thai company with 2 million baht paid up capital.

Most people who earn their money on line (eg. stock trading), don't bother. Who's going to find out if you keep your mouth shut?

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, Sirburr, but this kid is unable to read between the lines. Dumber & dumber... :o

Keep his mouth shut? I doubt it. :D

Yes, if he really is able to earn online and not have any Thai involvement, he could just do it that way. He was concerned about this being illegal. Well, it is, but it is generally not enforced.

Another issue for a person like this would be the long term visa if any, how to get it? It certainly won't be obtainable through this kind of employment.

thank you. I was just trying to find out if I can use my business to get a long term visa. I know i can keep my mouth shut but I was more looking for using it to get the visa but after more research looks like a no. thanks!

A friend of mine tried. The first hurdle was that you need a "proper" business address with a "proper" office, i.e. you can forget about working from home, it's not acceptable. TIT :o

Thanks for the above post. We do not know eachother and some members think that my questions are "dumb" and even though most are helpful we do have a few people who think it's funny to joke about ones questions that are going to effect my life. It may be in the way that I ask but even then if anyone wanted to help they would ask me to rephrase. Anyway, I have learned a lot and all "jokes" aside pointed at me I now know much more than I did going into this.

See you in Thailand!
