Lost Passport Bangkok, which Immigration Office to report?

Featured Replies

A taxi took off with my laptop bag still in it.

This contained my passport.

I did police report and will go to my embassy tomorrow

(I checked, it is open).

I would have to wait until Thursday to go to Immigration

but coming from upcountry I do not know which Immigration

office is open and deals with this now.

The html on Thaivisa.com (http://www.thaivisa.com/342-0.html)

speaks of :

3. Bring your new passport or substitute document to the Immigration Bureau to have your visa division 4, Immigration Bureau, Floor, Old Building, Te1287-3911 or 287-3101-10 Ext. 22 the following.

But I have the impression this is no longer valid information ("old building").

Someone please help me out. Thank you.

Moved to the Thai visa forum.

There is not need to go to immigration until you have a new passport (or emergency travel document). Be sure you keep a copy of the police report for immigration when the time comes.

What is your status with immigration? Do you a visa entry or an extension of stay for example.

Do you have copies of your relevant passport pages and departure card?

Once you have your new passport you can go to the immigration office where you live to have the stamps put in your new passport.

Info for immigration appers to be old. If you are still in Bangkok you would go to one of the temporary office shown here unless Cheang Wattana has reopened..Immigration services at Cheang Wattana now suspended

Correct about that page being less than accurate - appears not only wrong but missing text.

As said unless you are going to obtain a travel document tomorrow you can wait (and expect there will be huge crowds when immigration opens - and they are still in temporary locations so even more of an issue - better to do where you live if they do not pull a 'police' (you must do in district it was lost). But suspect even a return would be better than a visit Thursday - and they may have returned to there normal offices in another week or two.

Due to the demonstrations, Immigration services provided at Government Complex Center are suspended

Our temporary offices are :
1. Immigration Service Center for 3 national Legalized Labors, Major Hollywood Suksawat, 1st Floor,
Suksawat Road, Ratburana, Bangkok. Click here to view a map
2. Immigration Service Center for 3 national Legalized Labors, Imperial World Ladprao, 5th Floor,
Ladprao Road, Wang Tong Lang, Bangkok. Click here to view a map

This temporary service will be started from January 13rd, 2014 until the situation improves.
We apologise for inconvenience.
Service time Mon-Fri 10:30 - 18:30 Closed on OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS
( Immigration Division 1 will be closed for official holiday
From 12th - 16th April, 2014 )

I will get the Emergency Travel Document at my embassy tomorrow, I have to travel onward to Europe on business.

I have copies of the relevant passport pages and a police report.

What is unclear is where I should go to Immigration as the html on Thaivisa seems dated (since it speaks of going to an 'old building')

and I do not know if Chang Wattana is open or if Suan Plu can still process that.

(This happened on my way to Suvarnabhummi on Sunday night,

a taxi accepted to drive me, then refused to turn the meter on and in the hassle of

exiting the cab I managed to get two bags but he got away with the third.)

The open immigration offices for Bangkok are listed above in my post - Chiang Watanna is not open according to current web site information.

You will need to go to one of the two temporary offices. Cheang Wattana is still closed.

Suan Phu has been closed for years.

I had exactly the same thing occur 2 years ago. Yes, get the replacement passport first. I got my visa with retirement extension and multiple entry permit done in a single day; no charge. It will really speed things up if you have a copy of your old visa and passport. It adds an extra hour if they have to go to the files and find them.

Do make sure to bring the original police report and a copy.

They also wanted my last entry dates so try to have that written down.

Orchis, you wrote 'I will get the Emergency Travel Document at my embassy tomorrow, I have to travel onward to Europe on business. '

Are you aware that an Emergency Travel Document only allows you to travel to your home country?

That is only true for certain countries. Many countries will issue what is often called a emergency passport.

The OP has not mentioned which country he is from.

you did not try to call the taxi company to ask about your lost laptop...?
