Hello everyone,

My situation is a bit complicated but I will try to lay it out. I came back to Thailand 2 years ago on Non-0 Marriage visa, next 1 year extension I have done using 400k BHT. After that I found a job at the government school and as someone pointed out, my last extension was done using different reason for extension: teacher at gov school.

Now our school got rid of all the teacher I have found a new job but transition will take 2 weeks or more which wont be covered by my current visa as it expires same day my WP.

Since I have never changed my type of visa and still is on Non-O, I want to do 60 days extension with reason being marriage. I have already put 500k into my account last month (needs to be there for 2 months at least to get 1 year extension) that is why I need this 60 days.

My question here apart form usual documents from my wife and me, 60 days extension doesn't need any proof of income right?

My visa 3 months Non-O ---> 1 year extension (400k) ---> 1 year extension (teacher at gov school) ---> Now need 60 days ---> then will do 400k again.

Thank you for your input.

To get a 60 day extension does not require money in the bank You can get one and then do the one year extension without a problem.

Your current extension based upon teaching will end as soon as your job ends. You need to go to immigration with a letter stating that your job has ended on that date and apply for the 60 day extension.

Ubonjoe, my job will end on 30th. Problem is to get visa sorted I need to go to CM immigration because my wifes house residence is in Lampang (where Iam currently spending a week) but my job is in Chiang Rai. What a pain in the ass. My wp and contract states it is until 30th April.

Also wanted to ask do you have that PDF file that states you can extend Non-O visa if you are a teacher at government school? I cant find it on my PC, would very appreciate a link

You are not extending the non-o. You are extending your permit to stay.

If you have an extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon marriage to a Thai you can get a work permit and work in any profession. There are no restrictions.

The 60 day extension of stay will be extending your original non immigrant visa entry which in you case was a non-o visa. That is all that is required to work legally by obtaining a work permit. Just be sure a copy of your marriage certificate is included when the work permit is applied for.

Ubonjoe - I have a similar problem but with a slight difference.

I got a 3 month non-B visa last July which was then extended for 1 year based on a work permit with 90 day reporting. Today I was told that they have sold the tutoring school and my work permit will end on 30th April!!!! In the past I have had extensions using my childrens birth certificate (I am not married) - will immigration continue my extension based on my children until I get a new job or must I still leave the country within 24 hours and get a new visa

Thanks

If you are the legal (by legitimization) father of your child you could apply for a one year extension of stay if you can meet the financial requirements of 400k baht in the bank or 40K baht income. Or you could get the 60 day extension to visit your child In either case you would not need to leave the country.

The 60 day extension would be for the non-b visa entry permit to stay you have now so you could get a work permit and then get the extension based upon teaching again.

Ubonjoe do you have a pdf file with extension of Non-O visas that lists requirements and one of them is a teacher in gov school. Last time when I had issue with officer I had this paper and they agreed, I lost it last time I moved house. If you have link or can attach please do I would appreciate.

Does anyone knows how CM immigration works, they said need to come by 7pm to get queue for visa extension they only do 50 a day. Absurd!!!!

Is that something new? What about prohibited jobs?

I doubt that they told you all of that.

You can get an appointment, but I hear they book up quickly.

That is given and not something I would need to write about because you would not get a work permit.

Ans: "That is given and not something I would need to write about because you would not get a work permit."

A little bit misleading for someone new here, don't you think? "That's given..." is only understood by someone who already knew that.

The statement "There are no restrictions." is very clear.

Your advice is sound, and often praised. Keep up the good work.

Okay so yesterday Iaftet coming there at 6am sitting until 10 they refused to extend me 60 days. I met the most arrogant officer ever. She laughed and try to make me a fool all the time. She says since my last reason for extension was teacher at gov school I need to bring a letter from my school to cancel my current visa extension, before she can give me my 60 days.

She said to why did you comeback last time I told you everything you should know. I said it's the first time I see her face in my life. She just wouldn't even listen to me. How I hate ppl like that

She was sort of correct because your existing extension had not expired yet.

If you are close (within 30 days) to your current extension running out they should do it without questions.

Just get a letter stating you job is ending on the date your plan on trying for the 60 day extension again.

Yes it expires on 30th then I can't stay in TH after that date. I will sign new contract with new school on 1st but all the new krusapa docs and won will take a month to process so I want to switch back to marriage

They should of done it for you. Just go back with a letter stating your job is ending. A letter stating that they are not renewing your contract should be enough.

Years ago I get a 60 days extension on to my Non O M on married visa at Phuket emigration.

Now I have a “old” friend in wheel chair who have same visa and need 1 month extra more before go home but was refused at Phuket immigration.

He had all the paperwork done but can only get 7 days. Must make visa run in his wheel chair so he gets 3 month again.

Quote from a tourist homepage.

“If you have a Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage, or having family in Thailand, you can extend this 3-month rule to 5 months. In other words you can get an extra 60-days, without having to leave the country. Cost 1900 Baht.”

Are this option not valid any more. ? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure he had not obtained 60 days earlier? Was wife with him?

No. He have a 1 year Non O M on marriage visa and arrived about 2,5 month ago first time. Total he will stay 4 month in Thailand this year and because of old man in wheel chair it is a pain to make a visa run. He's wife was in Phuket emigration two times and they refuse total ????.

There are steep steps up to the Phuket immigration office so I wonder how the wheelchair navigated the steps or who actually asked about the extension ?

The 60 day extension to visit his wife is still available see clause 2.24 of Police Order 327/2557 basis for extension of stay.

Phuket immigration is known for having some strange rules of their own.

Thanks for your help. Hope this paper can help. ref. 2.24 must be it.

Is it permitted to apply for 1 year extension right after 60 days extension or does one need to leave the country and obtain a new Non-O visa in between two extensions?

Yes you can apply for the one year extension near the end of the 60 day extension.
