SeaVisionBurma Posted April 17, 2014 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Over 3,000 migrant workers will return home to Myanmar from Thailand, crossing the mountainous Dawana range from Myawady as New Year Thingyan festival approaches. From Eleven Myanmar Media The winding mountain roads are mostly dirt and go alternate directions on different days as they are not wide enough to include two-way traffic. This means that one way will be mostly downhill while the other will be mostly uphill. “Many people come back these days. If there are thousands of people who come back with a temporary border pass, those who come across Thaung Yin River are three times as many. They also come back on downhill-driving day,” said an officer manning the border Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge.
