I transferred 400,000 Baht into my Thai bank account today( In my name only this time), I have a triple entry Tourist Visa with a stamp valid until the 24th April, This will be my last entry, I want to apply for a Non Immigrant O Visa as I have been married a few months to a Thai Lady, I am aware that I have to leave money in bank for two months, With only 7 days left on this entry is there a way I can apply for this Visa without having to do a border run next week?

Also what is the correct procedure to make this Visa...

Thanks in Advance

What is easiest depends on where you live. If you stay in Bangkok, you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay and after 30 days apply for a conversion to a non-immigrant visa. If you are not living in BKK, chances are immigration will send you to BKK for the conversion. Than it might be easer to just apply for a non-O visa in Laos.

Actually you can choose if you want a 30 day extension or a 60 day extension, they cost the same. For the 60 days you will need to take your wife, for the 30 days not. Either extension will do.

The idea is that you need at least 15 days left on your permission to stay in order to convert to a non-immigrant visa. The money does not need to be seasoned for the conversion.

Because you have only 15 days left you cannot do the conversion now.

If you only used 2 entries so far, you can make a border run and get a new stay of 60 days OR you apply for an extension of 30/60 days.

In both cases you will have more than 15 days and can apply for a conversion.

Take your wife with you to immigration along with all the proof needed to do a conversion. You will need a letter from your bank confirming your bank balance.

Apply and get a 30 day extension (1900 baht) then as soon as you have it done apply for a change of visa status (2000 baht) by submitting a completed a TM86 form, It will save you a trip to immigration doing it his way.

You can download a TM7 form for the extension the the TM86 here. http://immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=download

2 months to apply for the 12 month extension but not the conversion to Non O Visa

By the time you apply for the 12 month extension the money would have been there for 2 months.

To do the change of visa status you only need the money to be in the bank.

The money will have to be in the bank for 2 months when you go back after about 60 days from getting the 90 day non immigrant visa entry that the change will give you to apply for the extension,

But you will need a whole list of documents for the conversion. Might be easier if you just first get the extension and at that time also ask for a list of the paperwork you will need for the conversion.

I assume you mean your permit to stay not your visa that is expiring.

You can do it today. You could of even done it two weeks ago without a problem. You loose nothing by doing it early because the extension starts from the end of your permit to stay..
