visa for China crossing from Laos

I'm UK citizen working in Thailand. I'd like to do a quick - 2 or 3 days - trip from Laos (Namtha) over into China. What do I need to do as regards a visa? Where can I get one? How long will it take? What will it cost?

  Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! This is simply pitiful. People are sick of your whining and moaning. Election is over. Trump won everything that was on offer. Time to put on your big boy pants, admit defeat and move on. What you are displaying is an ongoing obsession and this simply can't be healthy.

  Opportunistic theft is common at Thai beaches. Why is anyone surprised? The only surprising aspect of the thefts is that tourists would be surprised that they were robbed. I have seen people running about screaming because their wallet was stolen from their pants. It's why the police post signs to watch your valuables and to lock them up.
