BANGKOK: -- The Cabinet Thursday asked the Office of the Council of State to study the Constitutional Court's ruling to determine whether ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra is still the defence minister.

The court ruled Wednesday to remove Yingluck as the prime minister without mentioning her defence portfolio.

Deputy Prime Minister Phongthep Thepkanjana said the ruling was not clear so the Council of State is now discussing Yingluck's status as the defence minister.

Oh but we are talking about lawyers here. It would be obvious if it was in the ruling. These judges have been in a hurry to scratch backs and have made a boo-boo in the process. Much like the democrats did with the constitution rewrite and the coup generals did with the constitution thailand is struggling with now. Left hand jobs done in a hurry by people appointed due to position and ties, not competence. This is what you get.

So if Yingluck due to a technicality still is defence minister, of course the government should use that so their opponents can yell a bit at each other and spend time fixing the mistake.

I think the point is these are caretaker posts and they are only supposed to last for 2 months-and they have limited powers, the problem is when the democrats and pad/pdrc make a mockery of the system, sabotage the election and then try to make the caretaker period PERMANENT, while continually sabotaging the election process, THEY THEN insist that their own guy be slipped in with full powers because they sabotaged the election process. AND that this is somehow alla llowed under the current constitution.

Oh that is such crap- you/they mean "step down from the caretaker role and let our guy take over - with FULL powers" , from DAY1 the PDRC has been demanding that a 'people's council' be 'appointed' 'to carry out reforms' carring out refroms involves possible law and regulation changes and you can't do that if you don't have full power. Since doing this is totally illegal under the constitution, they tried to take this Senate route-which failed yesterday, but they still want it

So, following that logic Chalerm while no longer caretaker Minister of Labour could now be appointed caretaker Minister of Finance? Somehow I don't think it works that way, and who knows when lawyers get involved?
